How To Tell Things Are Going Badly In Washington

New jobless claims are up to 385,000, an increase of 28,000 over last week. No doubt the administration has some sort of excuse for the increase. Instead of discussing the economy, Obama is busy campaigning for Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats. She’s apparently the sort of Speaker we should desire as she never puts ideology above doing what’s right. Yes, Obama was serious when he suggested that. Please stop laughing. If that doesn’t distract the public, perhaps Obama should send senior advisors out to complain about the Drudge Report and how it “hurts what we’re trying to do.” No, wait, they’ve done that.

The economy isn’t really gaining any strength, which is cause for ignoring the economy if you’re a Democrat. There are other things to ignore as well, such as the administration’s  inability to get the Obamacare exchanges up and running next year. We’ll have to “suffer” without the exchanges until 2015. Obamacare is collapsing in on itself as the regulators are unable to write coherent regulations and get the system up and running. It behooves the administration to ignore this problem, just like the economy.

The administration reaction to bad news is to ignore it and campaign. Obama has made it his goal to win the House back for the Democrats. He and the Democrats have a number of problems heading into 2014 beginning with Obama himself. Historically President’s who campaign for their party in midterm elections tend to lose. The last midterm, 2010, is a good example. Obama campaigned more than any other sitting President has before during the 2010 midterm and he lost big. The Democrats second problem is that Obama’s personal fundraising arm, Organizing for Action, is competing for Democrat money with the DNC and other party affiliated campaign funds. Lack of a single strategy and single source of funds will dilute the Democrats message and limit their slim chances of victory.

Of course when news isn’t good it’s best to focus on other things. As such Obama is talking about the next election rather than the daily dose of bad news coming from Washington. Add to that a dose of media blaming, always a sign of desperation from the White House. It’s one thing for surrogates to blame the media, it’s another thing when White House advisers point the finger at the media. It’s no surprise they’re going after Drudge. despite his conservative leanings, the left-wing media flocks to the Drudge Report. Obama is trying to get them to knock it off but the fact is reporters desire to have their stories linked on Drudge because a link from his website equals tens of thousands of additional hits for an article and increased notoriety for the writer.

Of course it’s Drudge’s fault that the Obama administration, with its adoring media, cannot get his message out properly. It’s almost comical that anyone in the administration would make such a statement. It had it’s intended effect though, we forgot all about the jump in new unemployment numbers and the Obamacare regulation problems. When this administration starts focusing on nonsense issues (for the administration anyway) and campaigning we know things aren’t going well. As things get worse over the next few weeks and months it ought to be fascinating to see how far they take this.

Obamacare Mandates On Food And Housing

Obamacare is a 2,000 page monstrosity of a bill that we are now seeing will affect our day to day lives. If you believed that a bill that large was only about healthcare costs, you probably believed the President when he said you can keep your current insurance if you like it. Hopefully you’re not one of the seven million people who will lose health coverage because of Obamacare. Obamacare goes well beyond the controversial individual mandate tax, death panels and contraception mandate. This bill, which has nothing to do with affordable care since the IRS has told us the cheapest plan will cost $20,000 for a family of four, seeks government involvement in every aspect of our lives.

In the name of health living, the Federal government is going to mandate “healthy housing.” Rather than housing regulations coming from your local government, the Federal government will now be making recommendations. They’ll be spending tax money on propaganda advertisements telling people how their homes ought to be. The American left loves spending money on propaganda television ads, in doing so they behave just like their socialist pals in Canada and Europe. No one is opposed to “healthy housing” but one wonders why the Federal government must be involved. In Detroit, who is going to pay for housing updates on thousands of dilapidated homes people are living in? Sounds like a new welfare program, all in the name of health of course.

Obamacare requires restaurants to post calorie counts on their menus. McDonald’s for example has already started doing this. Because of Obamacare the FDA is currently demanding Supermarkets post calorie counts when they offer ready to eat food. Since most grocery stories have a deli with ready to eat food, nearly every Supermarket chain will be required to post calorie counts. Unfortunately this is a $1 billion proposition in an industry that already has small profit margins. Figuring out calorie counts is expensive, if they’re wrong it means massive fines and potential jail sentences.

If restaurants or other food establishments post calorie counts it should be because consumers demand it not because government mandated it via a healthcare bill. Likewise, housing regulations aren’t a Federal issue, it’s a state and local issue. What Obamacare is doing, in the name of health, is placing the Federal government in our daily lives. Obamacare is absolutely a transition from a marketplace based health insurance system to single payer socialism. All of these “healthy” living mandates in Obamacare will only get worse once we move to single payer. At that point taxpayers and politicians will have a vested interest in how everyone chooses to live their lives.

When we move down the path of socialist healthcare, we lose our freedom. It isn’t just in terms of losing our ability to buy the best medical care. It means having the government involved in what we eat, where and how we live, what activities we participate in etc. Obamacare hasn’t done anything to insure the 40 million Americans who didn’t have health insurance in 2008. In fact that number will only grow under Obamacare, by seven million apparently. What Obamacare did was lay the groundwork for direct Federal involvement in the basics of everyday life such as what we eat and where we sleep and spend most of our time. Nancy Pelosi told us we would find out what was in the bill after it passed. Americans should have had an opportunity to debate whether they wanted this kind of Federal intrusion in their lives.

Democrats ‘People’s Rights Amendment’ A Disaster For Free Speech

It’s no secret that the far left hates the Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court which ruled the corporate entities have free speech rights under the First Amendment. The decision more or less affirms what the First Amendment is, a protection of political speech. Corporations are little more than groups of individuals and thus are free to speak politically as they see fit. Nancy Pelosi and other left-wing Democrats are introducing a s0-called “People’s Rights Amendment” which would allow the Federal government to limit or outright ban corporate speech. The amendment would be a disaster and would severely limit individual speech.

The text of the People’s Rights Amendment reads as follows:

Section 1.  We the people who ordain and establish this Constitution intend the rights protected by this Constitution to be the rights of natural persons.

Section 2.  People, person, or persons as used in this Constitution does not include corporations, limited liability companies or other corporate entities established by the laws of any state, the United States, or any foreign state, and such corporate entities are subject to such regulation as the people, through their elected state and federal representatives, deem reasonable and are otherwise consistent with the powers of Congress and the States under this Constitution.

Section 3.  Nothing contained herein shall be construed to limit the people’s rights of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, free exercise of religion, and such other rights of the people, which rights are inalienable.

Pelosi and company are going to try to sell this amendment by suggesting it would ban political corporate free speech. Surely the Federal or state governments could ban corporations from buying ads in political campaigns, it could ban PAC’s and other government created entities from buying ads. But it could also ban all advertisements of any kind. It could ban corporations from selling products that contain speech. For example, they could ban any speech on the box of a Happy Meal. The amendment could literally ban books if they are produced and sold by corporate entities. Sure the author could publish on his own and be protected by the People’s Rights Amendment and the First Amendment but once his book goes corporate the speech could literally be banned by this new amendment.

This amendment would even ban speech by non-profit organizations. Name your favorite charity, it’s likely a non-profit corporation. It could be banned by the government from advertizing, it could be banned by the government from soliciting donations all under the People’s Right’s Amendment. Many churches are organized as non-profit corporations. The Federal government could ban church advertizing, they could regulate or even ban church services as they are “speech” made by corporate entities. Many political campaigns are incorporated, in fact both Romney and Obama’s campaigns are incorporated. That could mean that all of their advertizing, all of their speech could be banned by the Federal government.

You might say that’s not what Nancy Pelosi is after, she just wants to ban corporate entities from buying political ads during campaign season. That may be what she and others will say when they’re selling this amendment. But that’s not what the text of the amendment says. It says the speech of corporate entities is subject to regulation by government. It doesn’t say what kind of speech, it doesn’t say what kind of regulation. As such when looking at the amendment we must take into account all of the power that it gives the government. It literally gives them the power to ban all corporate speech, no matter what kind. The possibilities are endless for government regulation.

One major issue that would certainly come up at the Supreme Court is the interplay between what is corporate speech and what is individual speech. Steve Jobs when he was alive often gave speeches concerning new Apple products. Can his speeches be banned by the Federal government so long as he’s speaking on behalf of Apple? Or does he possess an individual right to speak about the corporation he works for and the products it offers? Section’s 2 and 3 create a conflict in this situation. We could ask the same thing concerning a pastor of an incorporated non-profit church. When he preaches, is speaking for the corporate entity or himself? Do we the people really want the Supreme Court to make such a determination?

The People’s Rights Amendment is a political ploy by the Democrats to further make a boogeyman out of corporations and business. It would decimate free speech and business in this country as it would give the government the ultimate power of control over corporate entities. Even if Pelosi says that isn’t her goal, the text of the amendment grants government the ability to completely control or ban the speech made by corporations. This amendment would be the final nail in the coffin of free speech in America and free enterprise in America.

Obama’s Lawless Recess Appointment Power Grab Attacks Our Constitution

President Obama on Wednesday appointed five people to various positions within the executive branch. Three of these people were appointed to the National Labor Relations Board. There’s no doubt every one of the people Obama appointed is a far left radical. Their political ideology isn’t all that important though. What’s important here is that Obama appointed these people without Senate confirmation via a recess appointment. There’s only one problem: The Senate isn’t in recess.

The Constitution doesn’t allow the Senate to be in recess more than three days without approval of the House. The House has given the Senate no such approval. In fact, the Senate was open for business on Wednesday there just weren’t any Senators in town. Nevertheless the Senate was not in recess and Obama’s recess appointments were illegal and unconstitutional.

Here is what Obama said about his recess appointments:

But when Congress refuses to act, and as a result, hurts our economy and puts our people at risk, then I have an obligation as President to do what I can without them. I’ve got an obligation to act on behalf of the American people. And I’m not going to stand by while a minority in the Senate puts party ideology ahead of the people that we were elected to serve.  Not with so much at stake, not at this make-or-break moment for middle-class Americans. We’re not going to let that happen.

Apparently the President believes that it is his right and duty to act unilaterally when the Congress won’t do as he wishes. Is this not a declaration of dictatorial power by this President? This is a dangerous precedent for a President to create. What Obama is saying is that when Congress refuses to confirm appointments it is the President’s duty to appoint them via a recess appointment even if the Senate is still in session. Obama dresses up his power grab as though he’s fighting for the American people. But at the heart of Obama’s recess appointments is a massive dictatorial power grab.

Can you imagine the outrage from the left if Bush had done something like this? The left raged when Michael Bolton was appointed to the UN via a recess appointment. But Bolton was legally appointed. The Senate was on recess, the House approved the recess and therefore the recess appointment was Constitutionally valid. There’s a huge difference between that and what Obama has done. Obama has basically told the Senate if you won’t confirm my appointments, I’ll brush you aside while you’re in Session and confirm them myself.

Nancy Pelosi declared Obama’s power grab as “bold.” We both know that if Bush were President Pelosi would be outraged. The truth is if Bush had pulled this, it would have been an outrage. The Constitution trumps party loyalty in matters like this. It is illegal for a President to use his recess appointment powers when the Senate is still in session. It’s as simple as that. Obama is the first President to ever pull this stunt. He seems to believe it’s his duty to the American people but in reality what his bold move does is take power away from the people’s elected representatives in Congress. It’s not the move of a Constitutional President, it’s the move of a Presidential dictator.

The question is what is Congress going to do about this. A lawsuit ought to be filed on this matter this week. These appointments are illegal and it’s up to the judicial branch to check the power of the executive. Whether the Republicans have the guts to go through with this is anyone’s guess. It’s clear that Obama’s appointments were an illegal, lawless power grab. But whether the Republicans are willing to fight over this is up in the air. They should of course, for the sake of the Constitution.

Pelosi Proposes Federal Control of Child Care.

It’s no secret that the left wants to control everyone from cradle to grave. Lately leftist Democrats have more or less come out and admitted as such. Nancy Pelosi recently declared that if she becomes Speaker again she wants to do to child care what the Democrats did to healthcare. Several weeks ago Sen. Richard Blumenthal demanded a stimulus for diapers and other diapering supplies. Essentially the Senator wants to subsidize one of the major costs of having a baby. In short, the far left wants the government to have an increasingly large roll in our lives from the moment we’re born.

Pelosi’s proposal is perhaps the more outrageous of the two. She seeks to move us closer and closer to the European Democratic Socialist model of government and family life. In much of Europe, children are shipped off to government daycare before they’re able to walk. Parenting is more or less limited to evening playtime. The rest of the day the child is under the control of government daycare workers. Essentially children spend more time under the control of government than they do with their parents in a good part of Europe, particularly in Scandinavia which the American left loves so much.

You may say what’s the difference between this and the hoards of private daycare facilities that parents (unfortunately) trot their kids off to today? One of the biggest complaints of the left is that they don’t get to influence children before they start kindergarten. As such they’re trying to get control over children before they start school. Why? Because they’re trying to effectively turn them into little socialists. The earlier they can get these kids the better. As such, in the past two decades you’ve seen more calls for government funded pre-school and other early educational programs. Now you have Pelosi calling for government daycare. The left wants control of kids and they want that control before the kids can even speak so they can influence them.

What Pelosi and other leftists are pushing is just an extension of what John Dewey and Horace Mann pushed concerning government education in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The goal of Dewey, Mann and other progressives was to separate children from their traditional Christian faith and the traditional view of the Constitution, founding and our nation generally. They sought to do this via government education. Keep in mind, the goal of government education has never been about education. It’s been about forcing a progressive outlook on the next generation. Go back and look at Dewey and Mann’s outlook as well as other education progressives of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Government education has been largely successful at moving the nation to the far left. Pelosi is seeking to move things to the next level. That’s why the next great leftist crisis in America is going to be childcare. We’ll be bombarded with all sorts of trumped up statistics and sob stories. Then the left will demand we “do something” about this crisis. Pelosi and assorted leftists will be waiting in the wings for some grand childcare plan that Federalizes the entire industry and brings control of it to Washington.

We should be very wary of any attempt to give children over to the government from the time they’re born. The government ought not be trusted with such control or power. They’ve already shown themselves to be incompetent educators (unless you have a progressive outlook, then the test scores don’t matter) and they’ve shown themselves to unable to do much of anything with any competence. When the left starts crying about a childcare crisis, we need to be prepared to step up and counter this nonsense. We must never forget that their goal is socialism and they’ll use our kids to further their goals. Unless of course they can’t get their hands on them.

The Tea Party Is Right: Speaker Boehner’s Plan Cuts Nothing

Speaker John Boehner wasn’t able to push through his debt ceiling plan in the House last night. This of course means he has no control over his caucus. As a Tea Party supporter, I tend to think that’s probably a good thing. The Weeping Speaker isn’t all that conservative and his debt ceiling plan, like all of them, is ridiculous. None of the plans out there force the Federal government to live within its means. Even those that include a Balanced Budget Amendment won’t force the government to live within its means. I can easily name 14 states that won’t pass an amendment, thus killing it.

Let’s talk about the Boehner plan for a moment. His plan is to increase the debt ceiling by $1 trillion in exchange for a little more than $1 trillion in budget cuts. Here’s where things get absurd. The debt ceiling would increase immediately by $1 trillion. But the budget cuts are spread out over 10 years. In other words, on average the budget would be cut only $100 billion per year. But of course it won’t cut $100 billion this year. It will only cut the budget by a few billion this year while the rest of the cuts are years down the road and can be reversed by a future Congress. In other words, the Boehner deal is a scam.

The real kicker though is that the $1 trillion in cuts isn’t even a real cut. It’s only a cut in future growth. If Congress passed a budget today that was equal to last years budget, the CBO would declare it to be a $9.5 trillion cut over 10 years. Why? Because holding the line means that government doesn’t grow at the rate of inflation and thanks to the wizards at the CBO, this is considered a cut. As you can see, Boehner’s $1 trillion in cuts over 10 years is nowhere near holding the line. His proposal increases the size of government as it allows for government to spend more than the rate of inflation. There are no government cuts, there are government increases under the Boehner plan.

The fact that the Boehner plan increases the size of government hasn’t stopped Democrats from hysterically opposing it. Nancy Pelosi has declared that the Democrats opposing the Boehner plan are trying to “save life on this planet as we know it today.” It’s almost funny until you realize she wants even more spending. Pelosi and Obama not only want more spending, they want massive tax increases. In fact, tax increases will result in more spending as more Americans lose their jobs and end up on welfare. One wonders if this isn’t their goal. After all, government dependence has been the Democrat base since FDR.

The facts here are clear. The Boehner plan doesn’t cut the size or scope of the Federal government. It barely cuts government at all, with most of the cuts coming down the road when a future Congress can reverse them. The Harry Reid deal is no better, his calls for $2.7 trillion in cuts and an increase in the debt limit of the same amount. Again, all of the cuts are down the road and the debt ceiling increase is immediate.

If the Boehner plan passes, we’ll have a debt ceiling fight again next year when the national debt is $15.2 trillion. If Reid’s plan passes, we’ll fight over the debt ceiling in late 2012 when the national debt is nearly $17 trillion. Default and massive cuts are on the way whether they begin next week or a few years from now. Our national debt is unsustainable, especially so as both parties seem uninterested in balancing the budget and cutting spending.

Unemployment Up, Job Numbers Pathetic

Unemployment rose to 9.2% in June. According to the government, only 18,000 jobs were created last month. That comes down to around 360 per state. Worse, the government revised numbers for April and June, determining that the economy created 44,000 fewer jobs in those months. Keep in mind that in May the government told us only 38,000 jobs were created. It’s pretty clear that the economy is stagnating.

So what is the Obama administration’s response? One top adviser suggests that unemployment won’t be very important in next years election. After all, people don’t vote based on national numbers but rather on personal economic situations. That may be true, but when unemployment is high you can bet that wages are stagnant or declining. Voters may not go into the voting booth and vote based on national GDP but the GDP has a great effect on how people vote. It is the height of idiocy to believe that unemployment numbers won’t matter next year. It is my sincere hope that Obama hires more advisers like this one.

Obama is apparently finally getting around to rolling up his sleeves and going to work on the economy. He insists that unemployment can come down to 8.2%, even though that apparently won’t affect the 2012 election. We’ve heard this song and dance before with Obama and the Democrats. Remember it was Obama who told us unemployment wouldn’t reach 7% if his Stimulus plan was passed. Since Obama took office, the overwhelming majority of months have had over 7% unemployment. Nancy Pelosi told us during the Obamacare debate that 400,000 jobs would be created by Obamacare overnight. Where are they?

What is the administration going to do about the terrible state of the economy? They’re still demanding tax increases. As though taking money away from small businesses and job creators is going to stimulate the economy. This administration has already increased taxes and it hasn’t done much good has it? In fact, since the administration increased taxes last year, the economy has only gotten worse. You can bet that further tax increases, no matter how small, will result in an economic downturn.

President Obama doesn’t have a solution for our economic problems that doesn’t begin with Washington controlling the economy. Unable to get beyond that core belief, Obama is handcuffed when dealing with Congressional Republicans. Obama has pushed through administrative regulations which have done little more than hurt business. But in terms of sweeping public policy, Obama doesn’t have one. Does anyone know what Obama’s economic recovery plan is? We know his core beliefs but we don’t know what his plan is. After two and a half years, it’s fairly clear that Obama doesn’t really have one. His economic plan seems limited to increasing government power with administrative rules created without oversight. All other forms of economic planning is given a pass by this administration. After all, Obama had almost no hand in creating the Stimulus or Obamacare. He let Congress do all the work on those bills.

At the end of the day it’s fairly clear that this administration doesn’t have a clue about the economy. They don’t understand that jobs aren’t created by government, they’re created by the private sector. Their failure to understand this has handcuffed their policy making and has resulted in long term economic stagnation. The country cannot afford to continue like this. Unfortunately we have another 18 months of Obama, at a minimum.

Nancy Pelosi Wants Elections To Mean Nothing

Nancy Pelosi spoke at Tuffs University last week. Normally the Soros backed Congressman speaking at a university wouldn’t be cause for pause. However Pelosi’s statements at the school did prove worthy of discussion. Pelosi doesn’t believe elections should mean anything. She clearly longs for the day when progressives dominated both the Democrat and Republican parties. In other words, she wants a return to a time when the parties were largely indistinguishable and progressive socialists were capable of passing whatever they wanted with ease.

Nancy Pelosi is obviously a far left progressive and desires that her far left policies become law. On elections Pelosi said:

Because there are so many things at risk right now — perhaps in another question I’ll go into them, if you want. But the fact is that elections shouldn’t matter as much as they do…But when it comes to a place where there doesn’t seem to be shared values then that can be problematic for the country, as I think you can see right now.

Elections shouldn’t matter as much as they do according to Pelosi. Clearly she longs for the time when progressives dominated both parties. Make no mistake, progressive policies are not historically a purely Democrat Party philosophy. Prior to Ronald Reagan there were conservatives in both the Republican and Democrat Parties. There were also progressives. Teddy Roosevelt was a progressive, Herbert Hoover was a progressive, Richard Nixon was a progressive, Sen. Joe McCarthy was a product of the LaFollete machine of progressive Republicans in Wisconsin. In fact, one reason why the University of Wisconsin is so liberal is because Robert LaFollete used it to push his progressive ideas when he was Governor in the early 20th century.

Until Reagan conservatives were in both parties and were largely muzzled by progressives. Until Gingrich and the GOP revolution of 1994 in Congress conservatives were the vast minority in both parties. We still have the remains of progressive Republicans in the form of Sens. Snowe, Collins and McCain. These days progressive liberals largely reside in the Democrat Party, which has purged most of its conservative elements. So-called blue dog conservative Democrats don’t exist in great numbers, especially after the 2010 election. In the GOP, progressives or so-called RINO’s are becoming harder to come by.

Pelosi longs for the days when members of both parties had shared progressive values and thus could pass progressive bills in a bipartisan fashion. In the 70′s the EPA was created when progressives in both parties pushed for it and a progressive Republican President signed it. Tax increases for much of the 20th century until Reagan were passed in a bipartisan manner. In fact, most progressive policies in the 20th century were passed with bipartisan support. This is because there were progressives in both parties.

Pelsoi wants a return to liberal domination and thus she wants elections to mean less. If there are massive amounts of progressives in both parties, it doesn’t really matter which party controls the Congress or controls the White House. The same progressive bills will become law no matter which party leads the way. In other words, Pelosi wants conservatives muzzled in Congress again. If that were the case it wouldn’t matter if Republicans won the House because the election itself wouldn’t have really meant a whole lot. Progressive laws would still come out of Congress. Instead we have conservatives in control of the GOP and progressive liberals in control of the Democrat Party thus the elections actually matter.

Make no mistake, Pelosi doesn’t want the American people to have a voice in their government. She wants your choice to be between a progressive Republican and a progressive Democrat. Such is really no choice at all and thus the election and your voice is rendered meaningless.

George Soros, Other Radical Socialists Plan New World Order, Violent Revolution

George Soros is holding two massive radical left-wing conferences this weekend. He’s holding a Bretton Woods III conference in New Hampshire wherein he and his cohorts are going to attempt to remake the world economy. Meanwhile in Boston he’s holding another conference to change the world and the media. Soros is spending hundreds of millions on changing the world via his radical organizations. He has the ear of President Obama, not just through himself but through surrogates like Samatha Power, Cass Sunstein, Nancy Pelosi, Van Jones etc. Soros is an extremely powerful man, yet the media is silent about him.

In other left-wing news, radical socialist leader Brian Becker has declared that nonviolence is not always the answer. Sometimes there needs to be violent revolution. This is interesting as Becker has Soros connections. It’s also interesting in light of what The Nation has to say about Samantha Power, a Soros friend and close adviser to President Obama. You’ll recall that Power was credited with the duty to protect doctrine that allowed Obama to bomb Libya. The Nation said about Power:

She began to see war as an instrument to achieving her liberal, even radical, values.

So let’s connect the dots. Soros is working on the end game with his two conferences this weekend. It’s pretty clear that he has been doing this sort of thing for quite some time. He’s the face of what the left wants to achieve after the revolution. But we have to get to the Revolution first and that’s where Becker, Power and other radical leftists come in. It’s always been a farce when the left has claimed they are pacifists who oppose war. That has never been the case in the history of leftist thought. In fact the opposite has always been true. The left has needed violent revolution to force the sort of change they want. They only became pacifists and nonviolent in response to a war against other leftists in Vietnam. In other words, it suited them at the time but did not state their real position on war. Take Vietnam out and if you look at the major wars of the 20th century, the progressive left has always been first in line to support them. Particularly WWI.

Becker is willing to openly advocate for violent revolution while Power is willing to use the power of the US military to push change. Think about how disturbing Power’s statement is, she wants to use war as an instrument for radical leftist change. But Power isn’t the first one to come up with that idea. President Wilson and those who surrounded him held the same view. Wilson and company radically altered American society during WWI. They controlled the entire country from DC and from the end of the War until FDR took over the progressive left lamented the fact that DC didn’t control our lives. War was an instrument for radical change, even if the change went away for eight years. Power’s idea is dangerous because it is so effective.

We need to keep an eye on George Soros and the organizations that he funds. They are actively planning to radically change not only our country but the entire world. Soros isn’t some crazy old man playing games in his fantasy land. He’s serious and he has the money to fund this change. Couple Soros’ vision with the radical vision of the unions and Islamic socialists and we find a nasty socialist stew brewing and most of us have no idea it’s happening. It’s time for us to wake up. Soros isn’t kidding around, these radical leftists really do believe in violent revolution. They have a view of the world that is radically different than how those of us who love the founders of this country view the world. They don’t believe in freedom, they believe in radical centralized socialist government. Wake up America, these people aren’t playing games.

Obama, Senate Democrats Prepared to Shutdown Government Over $33 Billion in Cuts

President Obama appears prepared to shut down the Federal government on Friday by not agreeing to a week long extension of the continuing 2011 budget. Speaker John Boehner has indicated that Obama’s position and the position of Senate Democrats will likely cause a shutdown. The 2011 budget has a deficit of $1.6 trillion. The Republicans have proposed a measly $60 billion in cuts over the last several months of the fiscal year. (the 2011 fiscal year ends Oct. 1st) Senate Democrats have proposed $20 billion in cuts. It appears that negotiations have placed the difference at little more than $33 billion.

With a budget deficit over $1.6 trillion, it seems absurd to watch the Senate Democrats and President Obama whine and stamp their feet about an extra $33 billion in cuts. Nancy Pelosi issued a press release accusing the Republicans of wanting to eliminate medicare payments, education for children and so on and so forth. All over a measly $33 billion difference between House Republicans and Senate Democrats. Even if we go from the GOP’s original plan, we’re still only talking about $60 billion in cuts on a $1.6 trillion budget deficit. This debate is absurd beyond belief.

Even more absurd is that the Federal government paid out eight times what it took in during the month of March. The Federal government is grossing less than $200 billion a month, really it’s much less than that when you factor in billions in tax refunds. At best the Federal government is set to gross $2.2 trillion this year, far less than the $3.9 trillion they’re spending. Yet Senate Democrats are busy calling pathetic Republican budget cuts of $60 billion ‘extreme.’ I dare say it is the Democrats who are extreme. They can’t even see the massive debt problem this country has.

Taxpayers cannot afford to have government spending at the level it is currently spending at. Like it or not, the economy isn’t picking up. Consumer confidence is down to historic lows. Gallup shows unemployment still at 10%, despite government claims that it is below 9%. While the stock market is up, so is inflation. Food prices are creeping up, as are clothing prices. Gas prices have doubled since President Obama took office. Here in Michigan the price per gallon of gas is $3.84. The end result of all of these issues is that the Federal government isn’t seeing a substantial increase in tax revenue and taxpayers cannot afford a tax increase.

It is completely absurd to watch Senate Democrats and President Obama shut government down over a $33 billion difference in cuts proposed by House Republicans. There were two issues that voters wanted dealt with according to the last election. Jobs was one, the other was budget cuts. The House Republicans are trying to cut the budget in a pathetically small way and they’re being met by what must be complete lunatics in the Democrat Party who think the cuts are extreme. It is extreme not to cut the budget when our national debt is nearly $14.3 trillion. Just to put the GOP’s $60 billion in cuts into perspective, if we took the cuts off the top of our current debt the debt clock would drop from $14.275 trillion to $14.215 trillion.

If the Federal government is shut down this Friday it will be thanks to extremist Democrats in the Senate and White House who refuse to cut any government despite a national debt over $14.2 trillion and a budget deficit of over $1.6 trillion. In the minds of these radical left-wing Democrats $33-60 billion in cuts is extreme. The fact is the only extremists in DC these days are in the Democrat Party. These people are going to bankrupt the country so as to avoid making any cuts, no matter how paltry, to the budget.
