Social Justice Leads To Race Discrimination At Justice Department

Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour. —-Lev 19:15

Attorney General Eric Holder was in the news yesterday for his exchange with Rep. John Culberson. The Congressman is annoyed at Holder’s refusal to prosecute several Black Panthers who tried to intimidate voters at a polling station in Pennsylvania. The Black Panthers tried to intimidate white voters and used any number of racial epithets against whites.  From Politico’s article:

“Think about that,” Holder said. “When you compare what people endured in the South in the 60s to try to get the right to vote for African Americans, and to compare what people were subjected to there to what happened in Philadelphia—which was inappropriate, certainly that…to describe it in those terms I think does a great disservice to people who put their lives on the line, who risked all, for my people,”

Holder noted that his late sister-in-law, Vivian Malone Jones, helped integrate the University of Alabama.

“To compare that kind of courage, that kind of action, and to say that the Black Panther incident wrong thought it might be somehow is greater in magnitude or is of greater concern to us, historically, I think just flies in the face of history and the facts.,”

I find Holder’s statements extremely disturbing. No one disagrees that prior to the Civil Rights Acts that blacks were intimidated and often prevented from voting. There is no point in rehashing the injustices done against blacks by governments and individuals during the Jim Crow era. Holder seems to believe that because blacks were intimidated and prevented from voting in the past that they can’t do the same to whites today. Put another way, Holder seems to be suggesting that white voters cannot be discriminated against under the Federal voting laws because it just doesn’t rise to the level of what blacks suffered back before Jim Crow was eliminated.

What Eric Holder believes in is social justice. He doesn’t believe in equal justice. If he believed in equal justice Holder would apply the law as it is written without regard to race. If the Black Panthers attempted to intimidate voters, Holder should prosecute the case without considering the races involved. The law after all does not say that only blacks or minorities can be the victims of intimidation.

Rather than apply equal justice, Holder is applying social justice. He factors in the races involved and considers ancient past history before deciding to prosecute. If white voters are intimidated by blacks, he takes into account events from nearly 5o years ago and concludes that whites really can’t be the victims of discrimination because they haven’t suffered discrimination like blacks have. It doesn’t matter what the law says, Holder applies his own version of social justice to justify his refusal to prosecute a blatant case of racial voter intimidation.

Holder and Obama both believe in social justice over equal justice. To them, it doesn’t matter what the law says. If they don’t like the law, they just don’t follow it as is the case with the Defense of Marriage Act. In the case of race discrimination laws, they’re not interested in prosecuting all cases of racial discrimination. They’re only interested in prosecuting cases when the victim is of an approved race, one that has been the victim of race discrimination in the past. Whites need not apply, any race discrimination against whites isn’t fit for prosecution in an Eric Holder Justice Department.

I believe that all laws must apply equally to all Americans. If we’re going to have laws forbidding voter intimidation, whether it’s based on race or whether it’s based on other intimidating factors, then it needs to be applied to all people equally. It shouldn’t matter what the race of the victim is, all that should matter is that someone has been the victim of racial voter intimidation. That’s equal justice and unfortunately Eric Holder and President Obama don’t believe in equal justice under the law. They believe in social justice and ultimately they believe in discriminating against whites when applying the law.

There is no way to sugar coat Holder and Obama’s belief in social justice. It equals race discrimination against whites. The law is color blind, so to ought the prosecution of the law. Equal justice requires this, it’s a shame the Attorney General and President don’t believe in equal justice.
