Loughner Hates News, Where Is Obama?

Sarah Palin issued a statement condemning the ‘blood libel’ of the left-wing media. I couldn’t agree with Mrs. Palin more. The rush to condemn the free, open and vigorous debate we have in this country is disgraceful.

Meanwhile, more evidence comes out that Jared Loughner wasn’t influenced by talk radio. One of Loughner’s friends said that he hated watching the news and didn’t listen to talk radio. So much for Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck causing Saturday’s shooting.

The people who are using the Giffords shooting to further their own left-wing political agenda should be ashamed of themselves. The more information that has come out about this case the more it is clear that the shooter wasn’t right-wing and wasn’t influenced in any way by right-wing groups, radio or personalities. Sheriff Clarence Dupnik of Pima County (a Democrat of course) disgraced his office by blaming the Tea Parties and Rush Limbaugh for the shooting without any evidence. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton disgraced her office and hurt the United States internationally by linking a lone criminal in Jared Loughner with international Muslim jihadists. The Democrats have cried wolf and it’s pretty clear they aren’t to be believed.

Speaking of Democrats, where has President Obama been in all of this? Rather than bring the country together, which is what most Presidents do at a time of national tragedy, Obama has been missing in action. He gave a brief statement on Saturday and has been mostly silent since. Meanwhile his party is busy trashing conservatives and Republicans, linking them to a crime that has nothing to do with politics. Once again, Obama’s lack of leadership skills shine for the country to see.

Peter King’s Proposed Gun Law Ineffective

Republican Rep. Peter King is planning on proposing a law that would make it illegal to bring a gun within 1,000 feet of a ‘government official.’ These officials will include members of Congress, the President and Vice President as well as Federal judges. This law is unnecessary and would have done nothing to prevent Jared Loughner from shooting Rep. Giffords last weekend.

To put Rep. King’s proposal into perspective, he wants to make it illegal to bring a gun within nearly three full football fields (I’m including both end zones) of a government official. It’s a radius of nearly a half mile. The size of this area is overly burdensome for gun owners. It’s arguably overly burdensome for law enforcement because if a Congressman has security with him the law would allow weapons checks within 1,000 feet of him. If law enforcement wanted to do such checks, the focus would move away from the Congressman himself thus setting him up for other forms of attack.

What really gets me about this proposal is that it places the burden on gun owners in two ways. First, it places a burden on gun owners to know when they are wining 1,000 feet of a ‘government official.’ Second, it places a burden on gun owners to know who government officials are. Focusing on the second point first, how many millions of Americans have no idea who their Congressman is? Yet it is up to the gun owner to know who he is and keep their gun 1,000 feet away from him. Almost no one knows who Federal judges are, most can’t name anyone on the Supreme Court much less local District Court judges. Yet it is up to the gun owner to know who they are and keep their guns 1,000 feet away from them.

Getting back to the first point, let’s imagine a certain person has a concealed carry permit that allows him to take a concealed gun anywhere he wants. Let’s say that first this person takes his gun to the local mall. Let’s also imagine that a Congressman is shopping at that mall with his wife. Even if the man with the concealed weapon has no idea the Congressman is even at the mall, he is guilty if his gun is anywhere within 1,000 feet of the ‘government official.’ They could be in different stores and never see each other, the gun owner is guilty under Rep. Peter King’s law.

Let’s imagine that a certain Congressman is running for re-election and is going door to door to solicit votes. Let’s say he knocks on the door of a gun owner who is at the time carrying a concealed or even an unconsealed gun. That gun owner is now guilty because he’s carrying a gun within 1,000 feet of a Congressman. Let’s say the Congressman never knocks on the gun owners door but does knock on the door of his next door neighbor. It’s a shame for the gun owner, he is guilty of having a gun within 1,000 feet of a Congressman because of Rep. Peter King’s proposed law.

The possible scenarios are endless. Someone with a gun could be at the 7-11 when a Federal judge comes in to pick up milk or get a Slurpee and he is guilty because he’s within 1,000 feet of the judge. This is so whether he knows the guy buying a Slurpee is a judge or not. What if a Federal judge moves in next door? Sorry but you’ll have to give up your guns lest you have them within 1,000 feet of a government official. This is so even if you have property large enough to shoot on. If your gun is within 1,000 feet of the judge, you’re guilty.

The sad part of this reactionary and draconian law is that it isn’t going to protect government officials from anyone. Law abiding citizens don’t use guns in illegal ways and are thus not dangerous when they bring their guns around Congressmen or judges. Criminals like Jared Loughner by their very criminal nature ignore the law and it’s a safe bet that they won’t be deterred by Rep. Peter King’s law. Does anyone really believe that Jared Loughner would have decided not to go through with his shooting had King’s law been on the books? He’s a murderer, I promise you he could care less about what the law is. Thus making King’s proposed law ineffective at protecting government officials and overly burdensome on gun owners.

Left-Wing Media Blames Everyone But Loughner

Some thoughts regarding the left-wing media’s reporting of the Rep. Giffords shooting:

If Jared Loughner were named Mohammed you can bet the media would be calling for caution in assigning blame. This is what they did after the Ft. Hood shooting. But since Loughner isn’t a Muslim, the media isn’t interested being cautious in assigning blame. Giffords is a Democrat, so the shooting must have been done by someone who supported the Tea Party, Sarah Palin or worse both. Within hours after the shooting the left-wing media, Fox News included started questioning whether the ‘toxic’ political environment created by Palin and the Tea Party caused this incident. To date there still isn’t any evidence linking Palin or the Tea Party to Loughner. The left-wing media acknowledges this but that hasn’t stopped them from continuing to question Palin and the Tea Party.

Speaking of Sarah Palin, isn’t she supposed to be the dumbest person alive? The media has presented her as though she’s a total boob and yet she’s just smart enough to get people to gun down her political opponents.

The media is almost exclusively based in New York and Washington. By being based in two cities with relatively the same culture the media fails to understand how those in flyover country live. In failing to understand how the rubes in flyover country live they’ve failed to understand the popularity of old west culture. In fact, the wild west and the gun slinging language that goes with it is incredibly popular down south and out west. Those just happen to be the places where Sarah Palin’s biggest fans are. By refusing to understand how the rubes in flyover country live, the media has willfully refused to put Mrs. Palin’s statements in context.

The left-wing media is pushing the idea that conservatives have created a climate of hate. Yet the media apparently can’t see that they contribute to the climate of hate by demonizing conservatives. Or do they really believe that liberals can’t hate?

Having watched four days worth of left-wing media coverage of this tragic shooting there is only one person who hasn’t been blamed. While the media has spent a considerable amount of time attacking conservatives and blaming us for the current state of political discourse in this country what the media has failed to do is blame Jared Loughner. At the end of the day, it is Jared Loughner who planned this shooting and pulled the trigger. It is Jared Loughner who obsessed about Rep. Giffords since at least 2007. It is Jared Loughner who bought the gun and it is he alone who is responsible for this dastardly attack. There is no such thing as collective blame in a situation like this. Everyone makes decisions in life and Mr. Loughner made a decision to buy a gun, plan an assassination attempt and ultimately carry that plan out. He alone is responsible but he is the only one not being blamed by the left-wing media.

The media has exposed itself once again as far left-wing. They aren’t interested in reporting facts, they’re only interested in pushing a left-wing ideological agenda. Anyone who believes otherwise is either an idiot or willfully blind to what’s going on. The press is taking their opportunity to attack the people they hate most: Sarah Palin and the Tea Party. They have no evidence linking conservatives with Jared Loughner, they even admit that. But it hasn’t stopped them from attacking their political enemies. We do not have an unbiased press, we have a far left-wing ideological media that masquerades as unbiased. They are liars and charlatans.

Left-wing Media Exercises Zero Caution When Attacking Sarah Palin, Tea Parties

The media fallout from the Giffords shooting is nothing short of amazing. Is there any doubt the mainstream press harbors a left-wing bias? After the Ft. Hood shooting the media urged caution about blaming Muslims for the shooting. The fact is the shooter was a Muslim who shouted Allahu Akbar while shooting. But the media tells us to proceed with caution after that incident. Yet on Saturday the media outright blamed Sarah Palin and other conservatives for causing the Giffords assassination attempt. Where was the caution from the media? It doesn’t exist when they have a left-wing political agenda to push. Anything that makes the right-wing look bad, even if it isn’t true, is fair play according to the left-wing media.

In 2008 President Obama said about Republican attacks“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” But of course it’s only Sarah Palin’s gun rhetoric that causes crazy people to shoot Congressmen. Mind you of course there is still no evidence that Loughner even heard Palin’s statement, much less used her statement as justification for his attack. In fact, since Palin was once part of government and since she ran for Vice President, it’s a safe bet that Loughner considered Palin part of the vast conspiracy to control minds through grammar. In other words, Loughner was a nutcase and political rhetoric of Sarah Palin and other mainstream folks played no role in his assassination attempt. But of course, the zero caution left-wing agenda driven media won’t bother to make such connections. It doesn’t serve their political goals.

As stated in my past post, Palin and conservative rhetoric had nothing to do with Jared Loughner’s lunatic shooting. Loughner believes the government controls grammar and is involved in mind control. He’s believed this for years, having confronted Rep. Giffords three years ago on the matter. Now we find out Loughner had a creepy occult shrine in his back yard. Complete with a skull, shriveled oranges, cerimonial candles and oddly a bag of potting soil. This scene suggests to me that Loughner is less motivated by actual political issues than he is by either is occult religious beliefs or his own lack of sanity. But of course, the media will continue to blame conservatives. If only they could discover he went to church once in his life they could blame Jesus Christ!

While the media is busy blaming Sarah Palin and conservatives for projecting violent imagery in their speech, it’s important to look at what the left has done in the past on this very subject. Michelle Malkin has put together an incredible list of violent or disturbing political statements or acts by left-wingers aimed at the right-wing. I don’t believe this is speech that should be banned. It may not be in the best taste and it may not be speech that I would engage in but it is speech that is protected by the Constitution. Furthermore, I would suggest that this speech doesn’t cause people to fly off the handle and gun down Congressmen or anyone else. It’s little more than charged rhetoric, albeit slightly more charged than anything you’ll see at a Tea Party rally or coming out of the mouth of Sarah Palin.

The Left Attempts To Chill Conservative Free Speech

As I’m sure everyone is aware Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was the victim of an assassination attempt on Saturday. The shooter, Jared Loughner, appears to be a mentally unstable lunatic with no serious political motivation. Loughner has been described as a left-wing pot smoker who may have been part of some micro-racist organization. According to videos he posted on You Tube, he appears to be obsessed with government mind control and government control over grammar. In short, Loughner is a lunatic.

Just an hour or two after word of the Giffords shooting hit the news the left began attacking Sarah Palin and other conservatives for heated political rhetoric that contained mildly violent imagery. Palin told Tea Partiers last year to not retreat but ‘lock and reload.’ Her message was clear, rather than retreat and accept defeat Tea Partiers should reload and prepare for the next election or next big political fight. But of course, her context is completely ignored by liberals who have an agenda.

There’s no doubt that political debate in this country is heated and contentious. People on both sides of the aisle make statements that contain violent imagery, though in context are not violent at all. Today liberals are using the Giffords shooting to advance an agenda aimed at silencing conservative speech. They may not attempt to regulate it via Federal law but they are attempting to create a chilling effect on free speech by associating conservative speech with this shooting. This isn’t the first time the left has done this, they did it after the Oklahoma City bombing. They accused conservatives and Christians of using charged language which then Caused Timothy McVeigh to go over the edge. In reality, McVeigh was an atheist who could hardly be described as conservative.

Statements made by conservatives during the 2010 election campaign had nothing to do with Loughner’s shooting rampage. This guy was a lunatic and had been for quite some time. There is no evidence he was influenced by any mainstream political group. In fact, since he believes that government controls grammar and is involved in mind controlling conspiracies, he’s just as likely to hate Republicans as he is Democrats.

Three years ago he met Rep. Giffords and asked her ‘what is government if words have no meaning?’ This suggests two things to me. First, Loughner has been a nutter for more than the last six months. He’s clearly been off in his crazy world of government mind control for three years. Second, it suggests to me that recent political debates have nothing to do with Loughner’s rampage. Three years ago we had a Republican President, if he believes in government mind control it isn’t just Giffords who is involved in the conspiracy. It would have to include conservatives.

The fact is, heated political debate and even political speech that includes violent imagery doesn’t create a situation where Federal House members are shot. The left wants conservatives to just shut up and so they’re going to use Saturday’s tragedy to try to force conservatives to self censor themselves. But the fact is, there’s no amount of self censoring that could have stopped Saturday’s shooting. Jared Loughner is crazy and was hellbent on killing Giffords.

By demanding conservatives censor themselves, the left is really signaling that they want us to shut up while they try to force socialism on the country. They want us to shut up when Obama tries to force through Cap & Trade via regulation. They want us to shut up while Obama tries to push death panels via regulation. They wanted us to shut up last year during the Obamacare debate. In short, the left wants conservatives to keep quiet while they abuse their power. If they can’t force the right to shut up through Federal agencies like the FCC, they’ll guilt conservatives into shutting up by accusing us of being responsible for a lone lunatic like Loughner. The left has politicized the Giffords shooting. These people on the left have no shame and no decency.
