Boy Scouts Overturn Ban On Homosexual Scouts

In a week when the attempted poisoning of the President by an Elvis impersonating letter mailer barely registers on the news radar, it’s hardly a surprise that the Boy Scouts big announcement was ignored. The Scouts are reversing a long standing policy on homosexuals. They will allow homosexual scouts while continuing the ban on homosexual adult scout leaders. Is there any doubt they’ll reverse the adult ban within a few years? It’s been amazing to watch this happen. The progressives targeted the Boy Scouts and now suddenly a once core belief is being tossed aside. At this point it’s obvious the Scouts no longer have core beliefs of any sort.

The Boy Scouts allowed themselves to be pressured into making changes. Make no mistake, they were organized against. Progressives entered at the local level with the sole intent on forcing changes from above. It was coordinated and it was successful because the Scouts were unprepared for such an assault. A once Christian organization, teaching Christian values to young men now cannot call itself Christian. The end result will be the destruction of the organization as conservative families leave only to not be replaced with liberal families unless they have some sort of agenda they have to continue pushing.

Once again, the right has proven they don’t understand how the left operates. We sit back in wonder as society comes to accept the unseemly acts homosexuals engage in. Meanwhile the government schools have targeted children on this subject for nearly 20 years. The Boy Scouts were a target even before their successful lawsuit which allowed them to ban homosexuals. They were an easy target, it’s easy to gain entry into leadership where change can quietly be achieved. We conservatives sit back and do nothing thinking that because we on a lawsuit everything will be fine only to wake up in horror a decade later to discover the homosexuals infiltrated the Boy Scouts and reversed the policy.

What fools we are. The left has done this repeatedly and we still haven’t learned our lesson. If they can’t win at the Court, they’ll target your kids and make their changes in the future. The left has done this for the better part of a century and we conservatives never seem to catch on. We think we’re winning the gun control battle because the Senate couldn’t pass Obama’s bill but we’re losing. Why? Because at government schools all over the country progressive “educators” are teaching children guns are dangerous and the people who use them are evil and thus they need to be controlled. If you think leftists aren’t trying to infiltrate pro-gun organizations like the NRA, you’re out of your mind.

The Boy Scouts have no core values anymore. As such Christians should have no part in the organization. We have to create our own scouting organizations, whether they’re affiliated with our churches or connected nationally. It’s unfortunate, the Boy Scouts have been a good and decent organization teaching Christian life skills to millions of boys. By overturning the ban on homosexual scouts, the organization told all of us it has no core values. If they’re willing to change on this value, a core belief just a decade ago, what other “core” beliefs will they give up? How long before the Boy Scouts start promoting homosexual activity like the Girl Scouts? My boys won’t be in the organization to find out.

Obama Loses Gun Control Debate, We Will Lose In The Long Run

President Obama is using the families of Newtown victims as props as he pushes for gun control legislation that has little to no chance of passing Congress. Amusingly Obama has the audacity to accuse the GOP of engaging in “stunts” concerning gun control. In the world of Obama parading around the families of child victims of a tragedy isn’t a stunt. Stunts are apparently reserved for those evil Republicans. So are politics. Obama doesn’t play politics, he’s for common sense reform. It’s only those evil Republicans who engage in politics. Obama knows he’s losing this debate, his tone is getting increasingly shrill as a result.

In his recent gun control rally Obama said he wants to “make it a little harder for our kids to get gunned down.” In other words, your kids are going to get gunned down but in his love and benevolence Obama is going to make it a wee bit harder for those nasty gunmen to gun down  your kids. Never mind that nothing in these new laws would have done anything to stop Adam Lanza or any of the mass public shooters of the last half century. Obama’s proposals don’t even focus on the real problem: Antipsychotic drugs. Instead of focusing on real issues, Obama is playing a typical left-wing political game by attacking gun rights.

Obama has almost no chance of passing gun control legislation through Congress. Even if he is able to defeat a filibuster in the Senate, it’s highly unlikely the House will vote on Obama’s legislation. The country generally opposes assault weapons bans, they oppose increased background checks and they oppose limits on magazines and clips. Obama must know this by now, which is why he’s getting more shrill and why he’s parading the families of victims on Air Force One while at the same time accusing opponents of engaging in stunts and politics. He’s losing and he knows it.

Make no mistake though the progressive left believes it will win in the long run. Obama might lose this issue now but in 10-15 years the progressive left has a recipe for victory on gun control. It’s the same plan they used on the homosexual marriage issue. They’re going to focus on the nation’s children at the government schools. The best way to dictate future policy is to get at the little minds of mush in the education system today. As such schools are teaching children guns are scary and dangerous. They’re denying that Americans have a second amendment right to keep and bear arms. They’re teaching kids that those who support gun rights are dangerous fanatics. The goal is to convince the next generation that guns are dangerous and gun control is vitally necessary. The schools are setting up legislation for a decade or two from now, just like they did with homosexual marriage.

Obama is going to lose this issue but he’s going to win it in the long run when he isn’t in office if we don’t pull our kids from government schools. We conservatives have to actively engage children when it comes to gun rights or we risk losing our freedom for generations to come. It didn’t take very long for the left to convince the nation that sodomy was not only a right but worthy of marriage. While gun rights are seen as entrenched in the American psyche, it will only take a generation of relentless attacks on gun freedom in schools for the next generation to support massive gun control. Obama has lost the gun control debate, we will lose it if we conservatives and Christians keep entrusting our kids to the progressives at the government schools.

Who Do Your Children Belong To?

Who do your children belong to? The answer of course is that they belong to God. In fact, we all belong to God as he created us from dust. From here the question is who did God entrust with the raising of children. The answer is families, on the specific issue of education (spiritual and otherwise) the answer is fathers. Remove God from the equation and the question becomes open and debatable. Over at MSNBC, host Melissa Harris Perry wants children raised by the collective. She wants to rid the world of the idea that children belong to their parents, she doesn’t like this sort of individual thinking. Thus we have a debate as to whether children belong to their parents or the collective.

Briefly looking at Perry’s statement, it could have easily been said during the progressive heyday in the early 20th century. The whole point of government education was to separate children from their parents and indoctrinate them at schools which were charged with shifting the nation in a progressive direction. Thomas Dewey and Horace Mann, the fathers of the progressive government school movement were quite up front about what they were doing. Leftists the world over followed their lead. Hitler dismissed opposing ideology by claiming that the Nazi’s already had the children and their parents beliefs would be gone soon. All of the communists banned private education. In Germany today homeschooling remains illegal thanks to laws ordained by Hitler.

The flip to this is the libertarian notion that children belong to their parents. Perhaps more extreme libertarians might argue that children belong to themselves. Either way, we Christians must be careful with this position as well. We are charged with raising children in a Godly manner. While we certainly find more agreement with the libertarian or individualist position, it’s still not one that we should fully embrace. We are only entrusted with raising our children, they don’t belong to us. Having said that, individual families making individual choices for their children is far more preferable than leaving children to be raised by the whim of a collective. (read: government)

Parents know what’s best for their children. Government really ought not have any say over the matter. For the progressives, this position is a threat because they know they can’t change American society without capturing children. Just look at the homosexual marriage issue, 15 years ago the overwhelming majority of Americans opposed homosexual marriage. Today a majority support it. The difference? A generation of young people have been indoctrinated in the virtues of homosexuality at the government schools. It’s the young who support it the most. If government and progressives didn’t have access to the nation’s children support for homosexual marriage would be nowhere near what it is today.

It should hardly come as a surprise when the progressives over at MSNBC push collectivist ideas. What’s interesting is that they did it in a promo so it was a planned statement rather than a spontaneous comment made during a debate. MSNBC is doubling down on their extreme left-wing propaganda. Look for them to feature more collectivist ideas in promos and ads in the future. Miss Perry’s position is wrong of course. Our children don’t belong to a collective, it does not take a village to raise children. It takes a family, with one mother and one father if you want the best odds for children to grow up happy and successful. In the end, our children and we ourselves belong to God. We don’t belong to ourselves or to a collective, we belong to God.

It’s Come To This: The Toaster Pastry Gun Freedom Act

Josh Welch, a second grader at a Baltimore government school, was suspended for two days. His offense? He nibbled away at a pop tart turning it into the shape of a gun and then pointed it at friends in what one can imagine was a game. The timid souls at the government schools suspended the kid, up in New York no doubt Nanny Bloomberg wants Josh’s parents locked up for giving him a pop tart. It’s bad enough the school suspended a kid for making a pop tart gun, they made matters worse by offering counseling for any child “troubled” by said pop tart gun. If I were a kid I would be more troubled by the utter stupidity of those in control than I would be by a pop tart gun.

State Sen. J.B. Jennings has introduced what might as well be called the Toaster Pastry Gun Freedom Act. The bill would limit the overreactions common among the timid souls who run government schools. Sadly Josh Welch’s case isn’t atypical. Little boys across the country are being punished at government schools for pointing fingers at each other and saying bang. A 9 year old in metro Detroit brought cupcakes to school for his birthday (who knew those weren’t banned by the liberal food police?). The treats had little plastic toy soldiers on them, which of course caused the school to fall to pieces. No word on whether traumatized students have been offered counseling.

There are two things going on here. First is a hysteric overreaction to the Sandy Hook school shooting. Last I checked the shooting was perpetrated by an adult, not by a pop tart wielding child. The notion that little boys pointing their fingers at each other or that plastic toy soldiers on cupcakes creates a threat or is somehow a form of intimidation is ludicrous beyond belief. Surely even the timid souls at the government schools know they’re being ridiculous. Which, if so, suggests they’re really up to something else.

No doubt the left views the children of today as the generation that will ban guns in the future. That’s one reason why they’re trying to scare children over guns. They’re also waging a war on boys, which is their broader goal. For decades the government schools have waged an assault on boys. They don’t just promote girls, they tear down boys. Anything that is generally common among boys is torn down, be it playing war games at recess, gym class, focusing on heroes in class etc. The government schools has for decades pushed to drug little boys so they’ll sit in class. The hysterical over reaction to pop tart guns is both an over reaction to gun violence and a typical reaction to anything boy.

This is yet another example of why people need to remove their children from government schools. Especially so for Christian parents. The godless government school worldview that they teach children ought not be acceptable to Christian parents. That the schools on a regular basis fall to pieces over common things boys do ought to concern us almost as much as the worldview. We’re laughing at the teachers in Baltimore and metro Detroit for their over reaction. But they’re not laughing, they’re very serious. They really think pop tart guns traumatized students, they really think cheap, plastic toy soldiers on cupcakes pose a risk. The sort of worldview that prompts these reactions to seem as normal is a threat to the future of our republic.

Obama’s SOTU Speech Won’t Cost A Dime

President Obama delivered his State of the Union address last night. It won’t cost us a dime to discuss the absurdity of Obama’s ‘it won’t cost us a dime line.’ It won’t cost us a dime for universal pre-school, where kids as young as 3 can get indoctrinated by unionized left-wing teachers. It won’t cost us a dime to spend $40 billion for internal “investments” also known as expenditures. It won’t cost us a dime to create more regulations that cripple business and cost jobs. It won’t cost a dime to raise the minimum wage even though it will result in fewer employed Americans and more folks on welfare. Same to for Obama’s illegal immigration amnesty program, it won’t cost a dime until they get in the welfare line, the Medicaid line, the government education line, the Obama phone line and whatever other line that may be available for government hand outs.

The increased “investment” spending is hardly a surprise, we expected that from Obama last night. We expected his emotion based appeal for gun control and illegal immigrant amnesty. Obama’s investments amount to more stimulus on borrowed money. Gun control is largely a dead issue, it is unlikely any serious measures will pass either house of Congress. Amnesty for illegals is something we can talk about another day but it was hardly surprising that he demanded amnesty for people living here illegally. He’s been pushing this for years.

There are however two issues that we must discuss that will cost us money and provide us nothing in return. Raising the minimum wage by nearly $2 will do nothing but cost Americans jobs and thus cost the treasury both in tax money and welfare expenditures. We have an economy with 8% unemployment, an economy where the government regularly takes people out of the workforce to keep unemployment low. Real unemployment is closer to 15%. Obamacare is coming online next year in full, it will cost jobs because of its cost on businesses. Raising the minimum wage increases labor costs. Businesses will be forced to make cuts in labor or increase prices. Generally it’s labor that gets cut, especially in a down economy. That will increase the welfare rolls while not generating any tax revenue.

Obama wants to waste money on the manufactured problem of pre-school education. This despite the fact that programs like Head Start simply don’t work. Adding pre-school education will only increase government spending on a new, unnecessary entitlement program. It will get union teachers more jobs and earlier access to the hearts and minds of children. Obama’s proposals will cost a fortune, far more than the thin dime Obama says his proposals won’t cost. States are already struggling to fund k-12 education, taxpayers are being taxed to death. Yet the President wants a massive entitlement program to add two years worth of cost onto every child who goes through the government education program. It’s utter madness that will cost a fortune and produce zero positive results.

In both of these cases Obama doesn’t care about the outcome. For the President and the Democrats raising the minimum wage both helps current and creates new voters. Those lucky enough to keep their job get a wage increase thanks to government. Those who don’t keep their job join those on the dole, voting to protect their unemployment checks. In the case of pre-school education, this is nothing more than a payoff for the teachers unions who helped elect the President. Obama’s SOTU speech was nothing more than the enshrinement of extreme left-wing division politics that this President is known for. There was nothing surprising about it, other than the fact that it was only 59 minutes. One would have thought Obama would speak for at least 90 minutes.

A Post-Modern Election For A Post-Modern America

President Obama won re-election without ever advocating a plan for his second term. In fact, he never even defended his first term. The only reason he provided voters with for his re-election is that Mitt Romney is a bad, bad man. It was the perfect strategy for an America that has rejected faith and embraced a meaningless, impulsive existence. We’ve now re-elected an agendaless President (at least he has no stated agenda) who we apparently assume will do something for us, or at least the us who voted for him. What that will be is anyones guess and when he doesn’t deliver it they’ll still say he’s great. It’s meaningless and impulsive but when truth doesn’t matter it should hardly be a surprise.

We have a major faith problem in this country. Of people under 30, 1/3 don’t think anything of religion. They can’t be bothered to go to church on Sunday and they can’t be bothered to think about matters and reach the conclusion of an atheist. We have a generation that isn’t grounded in anything. They’ve largely attended government schools which have fostered this sad outlook. The government schools are hostile to believers, they’re run by far left teachers unions and yet Republicans and conservatives continue to support funding them and even send their kids to them. Then they wonder why their kids grow up not sharing the same values.

Government education has succeeded in making life meaningless and we see their success in the 2012 election. It’s not so much who won but how he won. His campaign was devoid of meaning, quite the opposite of his 2008 campaign. Obama didn’t run on anything, he didn’t lay out one major piece of legislation that he wanted to pass. There was no center piece of policy that he ran on. Half the country seems perfectly content with this, including 9 of the 10 wealthiest counties in America. This wasn’t simply a minority turnout election.

If there was a center theme to the Obama campaign it was his bogus war on women. But even that is post-modern as it centers around cheapening sex and rendering it meaningless. The contraception and abortion issues really center around the ability of women to engage in meaningless, cheap sex without consequences. The left has for a century tried to cheapen sex into nothing more than a meaningless, impulsive act. They’ve been largely successful. Women have been turned into the cliché caricature of men: Impulsive, sex crazed whoremongers. The world might end tomorrow if the pill should disappear. Could our existence be anymore meaningless?

There is only one way to fight back against a post-modern America. We must embrace truth. We must embrace the truth of scripture and in doing that we must leave churches that do not believe in truth. We must get back to Biblical worship, God’s truth must reign. We who believe in truth must get our children out of the government schools today. Homeschooling is the best way to ensure your kids learn truth, it’s their best chance at having a meaningful existence. It’s going to take a long time to reverse what has happened to America. It starts at your dining room table, it starts in the office of the church pastor. With God’s help it post-modernism can be reversed. This isn’t about government or elections though, this is about truth and meaning in a world that rejects truth and has no meaning.

EPA’s Kiddie Informers, Court Threatens Resale Freedom

Stepping away from the Presidential race, at least on some level, there are a couple of stories out there that ought to be cause for alarm. The first involves a coordinated nationwide attack on school children seeking to turn them into little social justice, environmentalist wacko robots. The second involves your freedom to sell things that you own. In both cases we see the potential dangers of big, overpowering government can have on individuals. The Presidential race is a macro, worldview event. But we must never forget that worldview politics is a collection of micro issues. In this entry we’ll take a look at two of these micro issues.

The EPA is celebrating (the term celebration has really been watered down in recent years) something called Children’s Health Month. Rather than throwing a party the EPA is instead encouraging schools to create student energy patrols. The EPA believes kids need to learn “social action” and in order to learn this they’re to report on teachers and students who “waste” energy. What the EPA is essentially doing is teaching kids how to be informers and mini-community organizers. They’re training the next generation of liberal busy bodies, the next generation of adults who do things like ban incandescent light bulbs and three gallon toilets.

There is of course a better way to save energy than creating a patrol of Hitler Youth or a youth Stasi. It’s interesting that the government always goes the socialist route with informers and patrols when there is a capitalist solution. Wasting energy wastes money. Nothing ring true more with Americans than the pocketbook. Rather than teaching kids to be community organizers, social engineers or outright snitches, it seems far better to teach kids the financial cost of wasting energy. Not on the nation as a whole but on mom and dad’s pocketbook. It’s interesting that the EPA doesn’t go that route, perhaps because the liberals working there abhor the idea of talking money with kids.

Meanwhile the Supreme Court is set to hear a case which may limit your ability to sell your own junk.  The Court is reviewing the case of Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley & Sons. In that case the Court of Appeals ruled that people cannot sell their junk if it was made outside of the United States because copyright holder still owns the copyright. Historically the copyright holder owns the first sale, once that sale has made people are free to sell a second or third time without permission from the copyright holder. The Court ruled that this only applies to products which were made in the United States.

If the Supreme Court upholds the lower Court you could be prevented by copyright holders from selling electronics, movies, books or furniture made outside of the United States even after you’ve already purchased it. Manufacturing jobs would move overseas because no business would anyone make something here in the US and be limited to only a first sale copyright. Used book stores would likely be shut down. Craig’s List would be shut down, after all you wouldn’t be able to sell your DVD’s 0r other junk if it was made outside the US. You can see how this case could dramatically alter free trade here in the US.

These two cases may be small when compared to the larger issues of the Presidential election. Nevertheless, if we ignore smaller issues like these two we could eventually lose the larger worldview. The government has no business creating energy snitch patrols which do little more than train the next generation of community organizers and insufferable busy bodies. Likewise, the Court would be creating a disaster for capitalism if it bars the resale of foreign made goods. The Court might create a victory for corporatists and other assorted socialists but it would be a disaster for individuals.

Mrs. O’s Healthy Food Wasted

There appears to be a nationwide student uproar over Michelle Obama’s absurd dictations on school lunches. According to Mrs. O’s guidelines, high school students are allotted only 200 calories more than an elementary student. One teacher posted a picture of a sad “cheese” filled bread stick with a dollop of tomato sauce, three apple slices and some raw spinach. This apparently met the guidelines for a high school lunch. Students are outraged, particularly athletes. A You Tube video titled ‘We Are Hungry’ has gone viral. In one Massachusetts school, students are selling black market Hersey’s syrup by the squirt. Yes, it’s come to this, sweets are now on the black market.

From day one, Michelle Obama’s insistence that children be served healthy food has been met with one thing: Wasted food. Last year the government mandated snacks at a number of urban schools. These included raw radishes and green onions. Teachers collected the food to take home for their families, otherwise Mrs. O’s healthy food would have gone to complete waste. Now that the Agriculture Department’s full list of regulations is in effect, everything from how many tomatoes can be on a salad to a ban on candy bar fundraisers, food is being wasted by the case. One school estimates four boxes of peaches were wasted on a single day.

In short, kids aren’t eating the healthy, largely meatless lunches that Mrs. O wants them to eat. The result? Kids are hungry, they aren’t getting anywhere near the calories they need to get. Especially so for athletes and kids who work. Food is being wasted, thrown away for no reason other than kids don’t want to eat Mrs. O’s healthy mandated food. Meanwhile the band can’t sell candy bars for their fundraiser and lunch ladies have to count how many tomatoes are on a salad. These are just the silliest regulations, the regs number in the dozens of pages.

This is so typical of government. Some do gooder decides the country has a problem so she uses government to tell everyone else how to live their lives. Government issues endless regulations, increases costs and then expects everyone to put up with it. Meanwhile, the little people don’t like being limited in their options and they don’t like the food the do gooder wants them to eat. So they don’t eat the government mandated food and instead turn to the black market. Of course the black market food is worse for kids than whatever the cafeteria was dumping on their plates before.

This all begins though with a do gooder who wants to use the power of the state to force everyone to live as she sees fit. This is the danger of the all powerful state, it limits personal freedom. The way to combat fat kids isn’t through mandated one size fits all school lunches. The kids have already proven themselves resourceful enough to create a black market for sweets. Thus Mrs. O has done nothing to combat fat kids. Instead, she’s wasted government money and parents money on school lunches that aren’t big enough for growing high schoolers which contain food no one wants to eat.

When kids are throwing out all of their healthy food, nothing has been done to combat the supposed problem Mrs. O thinks the country has. After all, the kids will just turn to the local kiddie capitalist selling squirts of Hersey’s syrup, candy and doughnuts from his locker. Make no mistake, if it’s happening in one school it’s happening everywhere. Perhaps if Mrs. O got out of the city for a change she might see that the problem with fat kids really has nothing to do with school lunches. It has to do with lifestyle choices, it has absolutely nothing to do with lunch. Rather than solving the problem, Mrs. O has arguably made things worse. Why would kids spend their lunch money on a lunch they won’t eat when Johnny is selling candy bars and hits of chocolate syrup from his locker?

Chicago Teachers Union Fighting A Revolution

The Chicago government school teachers remain on strike. Mayor Rahm Emanuel is seeking a court injunction against the strike, claiming it ‘endangers’ kids safety. Because of course the kids in Chicago were somehow not endangered all summer but suddenly became endangered in September when school didn’t start. One could be cynical and suggest kids might be safer outside of the Chicago government schools, however considering the number of gang murders in the city this year such might not be the case. If Emanuel is to win the lawsuit it’s going to be because the strike isn’t about pay not because kids aren’t safe.

Last week the sides were supposedly “kilometers apart.” It seems the Chicago school teachers haven’t given up on forcing metric down everyone’s throats. The really interesting statement made last week though was from union head Karen Lewis who suggested that “the revolution will not be standardized.” She’s referring to the apparently outrageous notion that teachers be judged based on how their students do on tests. While that itself is an outrageous position to take, the really disturbing part of her comment is that she’s talking about “the revolution.” What revolution is that exactly?

The teachers unions have been fighting a revolution since the National Education Association was created over a hundred years ago. The fact is that the revolution isn’t limited to wild eyed union thugs in the inner city. The revolution is in your local government school, whether you care to see it or not. Government education is the creation of progressives who sought to fundamentally transform an America who largely rejected their big government socialism a century ago. Their goal was to transform society by capturing the next generation through compulsory education laws. They have been wildly successful, forcing government education on the overwhelming majority of students. They’ve taken America from a nation that loves freedom and loves Christ to a nation that looks to government and hates religious faith.

It goes beyond that though. John Dewey and Horace Mann, the leaders of progressive education a century ago, actively sought to dumb down America via the schools. The dumber people are the more servile they will be and the more willing they will be to accept the progressive outlook. An intelligent public wouldn’t accept a break from the Constitution in the way Dewey and Mann wanted but a dumbed  down public would. As such Dewey and Mann sought to revolutionize how children are “educated” beginning with how kids read. They’ve been wildly successful, there are tens of millions of functionally illiterate adults because of these people. There are millions of people who have no idea about the Christian history of America because the progressives have been successful at separating kids from their history.

So while many people may react with shock at Karen Lewis’ dropping lines about a revolution, it really shouldn’t come as a surprise. Government education is a progressive revolution. Lewis was actually being honest, which is odd for these people because they rarely discuss revolution in such a public forum. These people are educating the next wave of moronic voters who do as they’re told and look to the government for everything in their lives rather than looking to God and their own hard work. They’re growing the seeds of racial and ethnic resentment and breaking Americans even further of their Christian past. These people are fighting a revolution and it is not one that will result in anything good for freedom in the world.

Increased Education Spending Hasn’t Yielded Positive Results

Forbes has an interesting article this week detailing the increase in government education spending, which pols call investment. Forbes contrasts the increase in spending with the return on the investment. In the last 60 years government has increased education spending, in 2010 dollars, by almost 13 times. The amount of cash we spend on education is utterly incredible. You would think the return on this investment would be incredible as well. But we all know it isn’t. Forbes focuses on GDP, which has decreased despite the increase in education spending. We could just as easily focus on test scores, which have decreased while the test has been dumbed down despite the massive increase in spending on education.

Education has become nothing more than a massive government bureaucracy that has little to do with education. Pols and government bureaucrats tug on the heart strings of Americans, with visions of children, in order to maintain their cash cow and increase it. Anyone who is against increased spending on education hates children or doesn’t want them to be educated. Or so we’re told.

No one stops to ask why we’re paying over $12,000 per student without seeing any appreciable results. If you do ask such a question, then you might just be one of those dangerous people who hates children and wants to cut back on education funding. But we really must ask if that would be the end of civilization as we know it. Would it matter much if we cut education funding in half? In terms of actual education, it probably wouldn’t matter much at all. The government schools aren’t exactly doing a good job educating children in the first place.

Who would be hurt if we cut tax funding of education? Teachers unions of course would be hurt, which of course means leftists like Obama would be hurt. Did you see the other day that the National Education Association would be joining in on Obama’s truth teams? Soon Johnny will come home to tell you Obama is a saint. School construction companies would be hurt if education funds were cut. They’ve spent the last 50 years living off of government by selling taxpayers the lie that students learn better in new schools. In fact, there’s no difference in results between new schools and dilapidated shacks.

One of the things this country refuses to do is have an honest discussion about government funded education. No one wants to look at the numbers, no one wants to look at the costs. Everyone is convinced that their school is ok, it’s the rest of them that are dreadful. Even numbers don’t convince such people, they know one good teacher and so it must be ok. Parents lie to themselves so they can avoid taking responsibility for their kids education. Unwilling to have an honest discussion, it should surprise no one that the piranhas in the teachers unions and government bureaucracies take advantage and demand more money.

Taxpayers are being taken for a ride when it comes to education. The results just aren’t there. Back in the 50′s parents wondered why Suzie couldn’t read. We’re still asking the same question 60 years later. Only now we wonder why they can’t read, perform basic math or know the first thing about history. Our society is full of people with diploma’s and degrees, but it hasn’t resulted in any substantial economic gain. It certainly hasn’t resulted in an increase in knowledge. So why exactly are we spending so much? That is the question that is heresy to even ask.
