Breitbart’s Obama Law School Tape Is A Dud

The big Breitbart video supposedly showing Obama as a radical law student was released in two parts yesterday. An edited version was released earlier in the day and a full version was released Sean Hannity’s Fox program in the evening. To listen to my fellow conservatives crow today you’d think the Obama administration is on the verge of collapse over this tape. What rubbish! The tape is absolutely worthless as to the value its been given by conservatives. It does have some value though in that it shows that Obama talks exactly the same today as he did twenty years ago.

Derrick Bell was a radical left-wing law professor at Harvard when Obama was a student there. He was associated with Jeremiah Wright and a host of radical leftists. He believed in the radical overthrow of the American Constitutional legal system.  He criticized the civil rights movement for accepting the status quo, that being the American legal system. He’s a socialist, if not a legal Marxist. There’s no doubt that Bell is a radical leftist, he would have likely identify himself as such.

Obama in this video is shown at a rally, if not organized by Bell then organized by people associated with Bell like Obama. The rally is taking place because Bell has left his position at Harvard in protest of the lack of tenured black women at the law school. In other words, it’s a manufactured protest and a manufactured rally. Obama spoke at the rally and to listen to Breitbart’s people uttered the horrendous phrase “open your hearts and minds to the words Professor Bell.” He then hugged the professor, in what clearly shows that the two are close.

That’s it, there is no more. We’re now to believe that the President is going to lose an election based on this video alone. It’s absolute nonsense. Obama’s racist pastor didn’t matter, his association with the terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn didn’t matter. We’re to believe that Obama’s association with a leftist professor in law school is going to matter? What dreamland was Breitbart in when he got hold of these videos?

We’re also to be very outraged that the Obama campaign hid these videos. Charles Ogletree, a Harvard law professor and Obama mentor, acknowledged that the video was hidden from the public in 2008. This is shocking? Of course the Obama people hid this video, it would have been an unnecessary distraction. But would it have changed a single vote? Of course not. Jeremiah Wright didn’t, the Weather Underground terrorists didn’t. All sorts of crazy Wright sermons were released and it didn’t change anything. So why would Obama’s support for a radical left-wing professor in law school change things? Even if every nutbag thing Bell wrote was released it wouldn’t have changed anything.

The most interesting thing in this video is Obama’s style of speech. It’s exactly the same today as it was 20 years ago. He tells the same cutesy joke, which is meant to lighten a crowd up and make the crowd supportive of the speaker. He never says anything terribly radical, in fact just like today his speech doesn’t actually say much of anything. It’s a bunch of winking and nodding, everyone there knows Obama and Bell are radical leftists but it doesn’t need to be said because it’s self evident. What the video really shows though is that there has been zero growth for Obama as a public speaker. He sounds the same, uses the same style and says nothing all the while. This speech from 1990 might as well have been given last week.

It appears that Breitbart over sold this video. Unless he has a tape wherein Obama says something racist or something truly radical then it isn’t going to matter to the American public. We conservatives are wasting our time getting excited over meaningless tapes like this one. The Obama administration isn’t going to fall apart over the President’s close association with a radical leftist like Bell. It’s time for conservatives to stop dreaming about a smoking gun that takes down Obama. It doesn’t exist. The only way he is going to be beaten is by offering a conservative alternative during the fall election season. Video’s from the President’s law school days just aren’t going to destroy this guy.
