Homosexual Marriage A Failing Of The Church And Believers

The Supreme Court will be hearing two homosexual marriage cases this week. One seeks a reversal of California’s Prop. 8 which outlaws homosexual marriage. The second seeks to have the Defense of Marriage Act ruled unconstitutional. Our nation has long ago rejected the Christian faith and as such the Supreme Court will not even consider Biblical arguments against homosexual marriage, even though they should. The Supreme Court will rule 5-4 in favor of homosexual marriage, with Justice Roberts being the swing vote. Such would be an unfortunate decision as there is nothing Constitutional about the Supreme Court ordering states to legalize homosexual marriage.

There is nothing conservative or libertarian about homosexual marriage. Marriage is a social institution, created by God in the Garden of Eden. It has historically been between one man and one woman. Homosexuals have never in the history of mankind been granted to right to marry one another. That doesn’t mean homosexuals don’t have the right to marry, in fact they have the same right to marry as everyone else. They may marry someone of the opposite sex, there is no law banning such a marriage. The left is suddenly arguing that homosexual marriage is very conservative because it limits the power of government over marriage when in reality it is a massive government expansion of the definition of marriage.

Our nation is moving further away from God as the years go by. The decision the Supreme Court is likely to deliver should hardly come as a surprise to anyone. A century ago Christians abandoned education, handing it over to the state. Since then we have seen an explosion in the size and scope of government in our lives. The progressive movement knew and understood that to change the future they would have to separate children from their parents and from the church. They have been wildly successful. After just twenty years of pushing homosexuality as normal in the schools, 63% of the country has no problem with homosexual marriage. Among younger people, the number is even higher.

We Christians have erred in focusing on this issue and abortion to the exclusion of the underlying problem. While we’re right on these two issues and we’re right in actively opposing abortion and homosexual marriage, we’ve lost focus on the real problems. These are two fold. First while we focused on abortion and homosexuals, the church got progressively more liberal. This is particularly true at the nation’s Seminaries. To counter act that, many conservative evangelical churches have adopted an anti-intellectual stance. That has only hurt our cause more. We have to stand up to these people on an intellectual level, otherwise we’ll continue to lose the next generation of clergy.

Second, we stopped focusing on education. This is perhaps the bigger issue. We have legions of conservative Christians pretending like their 8  year olds are salt and light in the nation’s government schools. In reality, such parents are handing their kids over to Satan for six to eight hours a day. The notion that such young children can lead people to Christ is ludicrous. In reality, they’re being indoctrinated all day and you won’t be able to counteract that reading the Bible for 20 minutes after dinner. It should hardly be surprising that young people are fleeing the church in droves. When they were taught an anti-Christian worldview in government schools, why ever would we think they’d stick around the church as adults?

As the nation moves down the slow path to Sodom, we Christians have to get our house in order. We cannot allow ourselves to adopt worldly practices or force them into scripture in order to be liked by the world. We have to protect our children by providing them with a high quality, intellectual Christian education. Believers need to reject the last century of progressive education and return to classic Christian education. This can be done at home or in private church schools. Most importantly we need to remove our kids from government schools. If there is any lesson to be learned from the Supreme Court’s upcoming decision and from polling on homosexual marriage it’s that the progressive left gets what it wants by indoctrinating children at government schools. No Christian ought to let their children become a victim of such evil tomfoolery.

Why Rome Appeals To Protestants

Last week the Papacy elected a new Bishop of Rome, Jorge Bergoglio. Since then we’ve watched with amazement the media coverage of the Bishop’s election. The media has been predictable, they’ve written fawning pieces about Bergoglio that read like they’ve been prepared as Vatican press releases. Those media pieces that aren’t fawning are ruthless in their attack, not so much on Bergoglio but on what the left-wing media believes the Papacy represents. In other words, they’re attacking tradition, monarchy, patriarchy and what they imagine is conservative theology when they attack Bergoglio. More interesting than the media though is the reaction of protestants.

Why are we protestants interested at all in the Bishop of Rome? It’s one thing to be interested in that it’s a news event. The reaction has gone much further than that, like with Ratzinger many protestants seem quite interested and excited by Bergoglio’s election. Have we forgotten why we aren’t Papists? Like Ratzinger, Bergoglio should offend us. This is a sinful man who has the unmitigated audacity to allow people to call  him the “holy father.’ Such a term is reserved for God alone. This is a sinful man who claims infallibility when we know the only infallible man in human history was Jesus Christ. Yet we have protestants excited, cheering the new Bishop of Rome. Why?

The protestant churches of 2013 are where the papacy was in the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. We have old line protestant denominations that don’t believe in scripture and have rejected the doctrines and confessions that created their churches. We have entire denominations and popular pastors rejecting scripture on the issue of homosexuality, telling us we need to repent of our opposition. They might as well tell us to repent of believing in scripture. Meanwhile we have an evangelical church that we’re told is conservative but its roots are in the progressive theology of the early 20th century. In inanity of the evangelical church, the utter meaninglessness of their sermons and existence is a real problem. We have a pentecostal and baptist movement here in American that is anti-intellectual, driven solely on emotion.

In other words the protestant church has fallen into sin and wickedness. Not all of them of course, there are some who hold firm to scripture and Biblical theology. But as a general rule, the protestant churches have fallen just like Rome fell. Is it any wonder that protestants look around at the the utter uselessness of most protestant churches and then gaze at Rome as a symbol of stability? When the Church of England looks to adopt homosexual marriage as acceptable, is it any wonder that “conservatives” in that church look to Rome which won’t change on the subject? When evangelical churches have a worship style that has nothing to do with scripture and resembles a rock concert, is it any wonder that Rome appears stable, traditional and reverent whether it is or isn’t?

American protestants largely have no idea why  they aren’t part of Rome in the first place. Some of them have cooked up elaborate end times predictions that include the Bishop of Rome. Even if these stories suggest the Bishop is an agent of Satan, these folks have no idea why the protestant church isn’t part of Rome. As such, when the instability of the evangelical protestant world becomes too much, they’ll run to Rome. They have no idea that praying to Mary and various saints is evil and wicked, they have no idea that calling the Bishop “holy father” is wicked, they don’t know why Papist theology is wicked because they don’t know any theology. Why don’t they know theology? Because the protestant church is focused on personal experience and when it isn’t focused on personal experience it’s focused on progressive social justice.

We must pray for a new reformation, this time targeted at reforming the protestant church. Our church is where Rome was and where it has remained, we’ve lost our way. The protestant churches largely place scripture on the back burner. Rome appears stable, reverent and traditional. It should surprise no one that protestants, starved of scriptural truth, stability and reverence would be drawn to Rome. It’s a sad state of affairs we face in the protestant world. With God’s help and blessing we can reform the church and renew our faith in God’s word. We can return to Godly confessions such as the Westminster Confession and Three Forms of Unity. We protestants must seek God’s blessing and guidance in this, otherwise we will be devoured by the whore of Rome.

Battle Of Good vs Evil Comes To Connecticut

It’s been a day since the horrific elementary school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut which left 27 dead including 20 children. We still don’t know the victims names, especially the children. From the accounts given of the murder scene, it’s quite grisly and because children tend not to carry identification their parents will likely have to identify the bodies. Since the school is the site of a murder investigation, forensic units haven’t yet moved bodies. As such it’s going to take some time before names officially trickle out. No doubt, the parents of the deceased already know. They now get to look forward to the horrific task of identifying the body of their son or daughter.

Watching coverage of this event last night one would have seen the word evil tossed about. It isn’t often that the media uses the term evil, though it absolutely fits yesterday’s crime. This is perhaps the problem though, the media and society reserves the term evil for only the most horrifying events. Good and evil don’t exist in the Newtown schools, unless a gunman comes in and knocks off 20 kids. As society has further separated itself from our Godly, Christian past, we’ve lost a sense of what good and evil truly are. When something like a mass shooting happens, we act shocked and we try to spin in our minds how this could happen. In a nation that embraces evil and rejects good why should anyone be surprised when a particularly evil man on the fringe of society takes evil to one of its logical conclusions?

It was fascinating watching President Obama’s reaction to the shooting. As he cried crocodile tears for the kids who were murdered, as he waxed poetic about how they had their whole future ahead of them one couldn’t help but think of the 1 million babies aborted every year. President Obama supports their abortion even though in the womb those children have their whole future ahead of them. Obama’s statement was completely disingenuous in that light. But it’s a typical reaction of someone who has embraced evil over good. We’re horrified at what happened in Newtown, CT but we as a nation refuse to put what happened in the proper context. Like Obama, the nation will bury its collective head in the sand with regard to good and evil.

We are living in a post-Christian America, a nation where morality is relative and evil is only reflected in the most horrifying of events. We aren’t yet at the level of the people in the French Revolution, Third Reich or name your Communist nation. We still have a significant number of people who have not fully rejected the Christian faith or Christian morality. As such God has not completely removed his hand of protection. But we aren’t far from that point. As we continue to remove God from culture, we can expect evil to flourish. As we continue to cheapen life, we can expect that criminals will disregard life even more. Just look at “handgun free” Chicago where murders are up 48% just this year. They’re pushing 500 just in Chicago. We can look at countless cities, most of which are the most anti-Christian or agnostic in the country. All of them have sickeningly high murder rates.

We removed God from the government school classroom 50 years ago. Arguably he was never really there, government schools were the creation and play thing of the progressive movement. Yesterday we saw the fruits of God’s removal from schools and from society. It was most certainly seen in the outrageous murder scene inside that school. But it was also seen by the reaction of the media and millions in our country. There is a disconnect between our nation and morality, there is a fundamental lack of understanding of good and evil. If our nation continues down this road, evil like what we saw will only increase and our understanding will only become more muddled. We can only hope and pray that God will use this act of evil in Connecticut to call many unto Jesus Christ. Only through Christ can we truly understand what took place and how our nation can avoid these events in the future.

Science Explains Away Homosexuality Via Genetics

Self proclaimed scientists have declared they may have figured out why people turn out to be homosexuals. Rather than it being a purely genetic trait, which according to the left’s beloved evolution would have knocked off all the gays years ago, homosexual tendency is due to genetic epi-marks. These epi-marks help control how various genes are interpreted and expressed. It was a matter of time before a group of “scientists” came up with an explanation like this. The left has been desperate to call homosexual acts normal for the better part of a generation. Science is always their go to for turning the abnormal into normal. The problem though is that the evolutionary science the left relies on denies a soul and it denies human choice.

Several years ago science declared they had found a gene which for those who have it will cause them to be drunkards. We’re supposed to feel bad for drunks, we pretend like it’s a disease by calling it alcoholism. However we didn’t change drunk driving laws to accommodate the poor souls stuck with these gene. Most of us recognize that whether you have this gene or not, each person makes a choice whether to consume alcohol. Like with most things in life, we’re responsible for the consequences of our actions. Despite having this gene a drunk is responsible for his drinking and he isn’t able to get out of a drunk driving or other alcohol related offense based on his genes.

With the left sodomy is sacred. If homosexuals have a gene or some sort of epi-mark that is strong enough to make them homosexual then they’re off limits, we cannot criticize them in any way. Suddenly these people are deemed normal and not responsible in any way for their actions. They’re born this way after all and how dare you criticize it. Yet the drunk isn’t afforded such protections by anyone, much less the left.

We are responsible for all of the actions we engage in whether they’re positive or negative. We have a soul and a conscience which matter more than any gene. Science has spent the better part of the last two decades trying to explain everything away via genes. No doubt some of their work is very good when it comes to various diseases. But when they start getting into the world of behavior there becomes a major problem because science denies human choice. The dependency science has on evolutionary theory is evident here. The world can be explained away through a series of genes, our individual behavior explained away through genetics. We aren’t truly responsible, it’s just in our genes. The denial of a soul, of a creator is on display when science tries to explain human action via genes.

We Christians cannot get caught up in the science worship of the left. We should never seek to explain human behavior via genetics. It really shouldn’t matter to us one way or another whether someone has a gene which gives them a greater tendency to be a drunk, homosexual, whoremonger, liar or pick your sin. For believers, our genes don’t dictate these things. The fall of Adam has forever polluted mankind and his genes with the stain of sin and of death. It really should surprise none of us that genes have been polluted with the death of sin. But our genes are hardly an excuse for our own choices and actions. Surely we cannot go to God on judgment day and tell him ‘well it’s really all Adam’s fault not mine at all.’ While the science worshippers try to explain away our evil via genes, we must repent and recognize that we alone are responsible for our actions.

Americans Have Lost Faith In The Church

The National Journal ran a piece last month titled “In Nothing We Trust.” The article detained how basic institutions such as government, schools and the church have fallen apart and lost the trust of the general public. Focused on Muncie, Indiana, the writer might as well have been anywhere in the country. Civil society seems to be crumbling all around us, with individuals seemingly powerless to do anything. Government is incompetent, the schools can’t figure out how to teach kids and prevent violence and wonder aloud why parents homeschool. Worst of all is the church, which seems to have drifted into a mix of old line denominations that don’t believe in anything and mega churches which don’t believe in anything traditional.

We’ll focus on the church in particular. The church dug its own grave a century ago when it allowed itself to be corrupted by progressive political goals, particularly the social gospel. The world could be saved, if only alcohol is banned or if government otherwise did something not prescribed in scripture. Couple the social gospel with the rise of so-called higher criticism, which overtook most of the mainline seminaries and it’s no wonder the mainline churches fell into the abyss of liberalism. The seminaries churned out pastor after pastor who didn’t believe in much of anything, much less the virgin birth of Christ or his literal resurrection. Fast forward to 2012, these denominations view scripture as little more than a series of nice moral stories. But otherwise, sin means nothing to them, salvation not necessary in a world that doesn’t really have a creator.

The supposedly conservative response to all of this is the mega church and the legion of baptist churches that make up the moral majority and the religious right. But even these folks aren’t really religious conservatives. They come straight out of the progressive tradition, especially when it comes to the social gospel. Sure, they aren’t as liberal as their mainline counterparts. They said enough progress in the 30′s. Still, they bare the mark of progressivism, they have completely cut believers off from historic Christianity. There are believers in mega churches today that have only the slightest bit of knowledge about what the church was like a decade ago, much less a century or a millennium ago. They don’t know and they don’t care. In fact, there is a large group of them who actively declare the past irrelevant. They’ve been cut off from the historic faith, they have adopted the progressive mindset and yet they fashion themselves conservatives.

No wonder Americans flee from the church in droves. Half the churches don’t believe in anything, the other half believe on emotion alone and are completely cut off from the historic faith. Thank God we still live in a country where there are still a few churches left that still believe in and look the same as they did 400 years ago. But those churches are becoming few and far between. People have lost faith in the institution of the church because the church foolishly followed humanism over scripture. The social gospel and other forms of progressive theology have given us what we have today, a dead church and a church that does whatever it pleases without bothering to look at scripture or the historic church. Why would anyone want to be part of it, much less trust it as a base institution?

Hope is not lost though. We must never forget that God saved half of Europe in a generation during the Reformation. While the church in the west is an absolute mess, the traditional, orthodox faith is being spread in Africa, Asia and South America. There are an estimated 100 million believers in China, where faith is outlawed. There are as many as a million risking their lives for Christ in North Korea. Millions more are facing death at the hand of the Muslim hordes in Africa and elsewhere. The Holy Spirit is saving His elect, it appears that they simply aren’t here in large numbers anymore. We Christians must pray for reformation of the western church, we must pray that the Holy Spirit revisit the west and restore the church to proper doctrine. Hope is never lost with the Lord even if the church in America is an absolute mess.

Medical Ethics, Eugenics and “Post Birth Abortion”

The left has returned to its eugenics roots. An increasing number of leftists support the idea of a so-called post birth abortion (read: infanticide). The British Journal of Medical Ethics event went so far as to publish an article supporting such “abortions.” The progressive left loved eugenics during the first half of the 20th century. Leftists from Margaret Sanger, Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson to Adolph Hitler supported creating a master race through eugenics. Those “undesirables” who polluted the master race were to be sterilized or killed. This is what happens when “ethics” separates itself from basic Christianity.

Thou shalt not murder must actually mean something in order for eugenics to be repugnant. As we get further and further into our post-Christian society it should surprise us not when medical “ethics” begins to argue with killing babies, be it born or unborn. It’s bad enough that Christians have had to defend the right to life of an unborn baby, now we must defend the right of the born to live. This includes any child with a disability, including those with down’s syndrome.

Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva wrote the article. They said:

The moral status of an infant is equivalent to that of a fetus in the sense that both lack those properties that justify the attribution of a right to life to an individual….

Both a fetus and a newborn certainly are human beings and potential persons, but neither is a ‘person’ in the sense of ‘subject of a moral right to life’.

In short, a born baby is a potential person but it isn’t a person and thus isn’t subject to a right to life. Would any child with a disability become a “person” and thus subject to a right to life according to the authors of this article? I would suspect not, thus it would be justified in their minds to murder anyone with down’s syndrome or some other major disability.

The “ethicists” didn’t stop there:

We take ‘person’ to mean an individual who is capable of attributing to her own existence some (at least) basic value such that being deprived of this existence represents a loss to her….

As such they argued it was “not possible to damage a newborn by preventing her from developing the potentiality to become a person in the morally relevant sense….

…what we call ‘after-birth abortion’ (killing a newborn) should be permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.

It’s quite clear then isn’t it? Any newborn, healthy or otherwise, is not capable of being a person. So any newborn could be murdered in accordance with Giubilini and Minerva’s “ethics.” Presumably at some point a baby can place value on its life and one would assume that whenever that undefined point comes then it would be unethical to murder the child. Until then Giubilini and Minerva play the linguistic game, calling infanticide a “post birth abortion.” Of course since a child with a mental disability will never be able to place “value” on its own life they can be murdered at any point.

The left has returned to eugenics. They have made human life meaningless and irrelevant. It starts with the mentally disable, they lose their right to life. Next it applies to races. When Japan occupied parts of China they did grotesque medical experiments on the “non-human” Chinese. They called them logs, their life was irrelevant. Hitler killed any German whose genes he deemed a threat to the master race. The Soviets routinely murdered the mentally incompetent, to say nothing of the so-called enemies of the people.

Once we go down the road of accepting the murder of innocent human life it leads to mass murder. If we can manipulate ethics to justify the “ethical” murder of one group of people then we can manipulate ethics to justify any murder. That’s what happened in the 20th century. The left hasn’t learned its lesson, they’re setting us up for another round of unimaginable death. They’ve already done this with abortion, now they’re going after the born.

This is why we need a basic moral absolute. The Christian faith gives us this via the 10 Commandments. It is wrong to murder innocent. It doesn’t matter if the baby has this problem or that problem, it doesn’t matter if the person has this disease or that disease. It also doesn’t matter if a baby is a particular race or born into a particular religion. All innocent people are entitled to a right to life under the Christian faith. When so-called ethics moves away from this basic principle and when ethics begins to redefine what a life is or what a person is, they’re setting us up for mass murder.

We must not accept this in any way shape or form. We must never accept the government allowing mothers to murder their own children without consequences. We must never accept the government murdering innocent people, no matter their infirmity, race or religion. Giubilini and Minerva, along with other leftists, are taking us down the path of mass murder. We’ve been here before a century ago. We cannot let this happen again.

A Day of Thanksgiving To God Almighty

President George Washington declared a day of public Thanksgiving in 1789. You’ll note below that the President acknowledged God and declared it was the duty of this nation to obey His will. I guess the ACLU wasn’t around to tell him what the Constitution really means.Yes, that was sarcastic.

This day really isn’t as much about watching the Lions crush the Packers and eating a giant turkey as it is about thanking God for all of the blessings we have been granted. The Lord is not duty bound to bless us with bounty and yet he has according to His good pleasure. We must remember to spend a little time today thanking Him for the generous blessings He has granted.

The text of Washington’s Thanksgiving proclamation from 1789:

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA – A PROCLAMATION

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor – and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be – That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks – for his kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation – for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war –for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed – for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions – to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually – to render our national government a blessing to all the People, by constantly being a government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed – to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord – To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and Us – and generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

Rick Perry Attacked By Far Left Atheists For Exercising Constitutional Right

Texas Governor Rick Perry is being attacked by leftists because he had the audacity to speak at a Christian prayer event over the weekend. The Anti-Defamation League declared that Perry violated “the spirit” of the Constitution. Meanwhile atheist Barry Lynn declared that Perry must be “confused” as he is “the Governor of Texas not a preacher or prayer leader.” I must say it is the ADL that seeks to violate the spirit of the Constitution and it’s Barry Lynn who is confused. Since when are Governors and other elected officials banned from believing in God and sharing their belief with others? The far left seems to think that Christians elected to office are required to leave their faith the minute they take the oath of office.

Gov. Perry’s speech wasn’t exactly controversial. To the left however it is extremely controversial. Any elected official who shares their faith publicly or encourages others to seek Christ is a reprobate to the leftist secular mindset. The New York Times groused that prayers were given “in Jesus Christ’s name.” Imagine the horror of Christians actually praying in Christ’s name as we are commanded to! The only ones horrified are leftists who hate Jesus Christ and loath and despise elected officials who do anything more than claim to believe in generic god.

Perry’s prayer could have been heard in any relatively conservative church in America. In fact, it could have been the opening paragraph of the prayer at the Dutch Reformed church my family attended on Sunday.  Perry stated:

Lord, you are the source of every good thing. You are our only hope, and we stand before you today in awe of your power and in gratitude for your blessings, and humility for our sins. Father, our heart breaks for America. We see discord at home. We see fear in the marketplace. We see anger in the halls of government, and as a nation we have forgotten who made us, who protects us, who blesses us, and for that we cry out for your forgiveness.

Perry’s prayer is only controversial if you don’t believe in God or you hate Jesus Christ. When it comes to the far left, they hate both. The far left thinks it outrageous that the Governor of Texas or any state would publicly proclaim their faith in Christ. As far as they’re concerned, a sitting Governor must keep his mouth shut when it comes to spiritual matters. In reality, the left only wants sitting Governors to keep their mouths shut so that they aren’t confronted with eternity. In other words, they won’t want to censor elected officials religious speech so that they aren’t bothered by it.

In demanding that elected officials censor themselves when it comes to their faith, the far left damages the Constitution. The Constitution doesn’t prevent public officials from talking about their faith. No where does the Constitution order government officials to censor their religious faith or censor their speech. Quite the contrary, the Constitution protects elected officials right to exercise religion and it protects their right to free speech. It’s the ADL and Barry Lynn who want to see speech and faith censored.

Rick Perry isn’t establishing a state church in Texas. All Perry is doing is exercising his religion, which is protected by the Constitution. Whether we agree with Perry’s faith or not, we should be celebrating the fact that Perry has this right in America. Instead the far left complains and wants Perry to censor himself so that they aren’t uncomfortable. It’s time for elected officials to stop giving in to the narcisstic comfort demands of atheists and far leftists. Whether we agree with Perry or not, we should be commending him for sharing his faith publicly. He is doing it the American way, with protection from the Constitution.

Houston V.A. Cemetery Seeks To Ban God From Military Funerals

A battle is brewing at a V.A. cemetery in Houston where director Arlene Ocasio is attempting to ban God and Jesus from being uttered at Memorial Day and funeral services. Suit was filed before Memorial Day after a pastor was told he was not allowed to pray using the name of Jesus at a Memorial Day service. He won that suit but the V.A. continues to demand that families submit prayers in writing prior to funerals for her approval.

It doesn’t end there. The National Memorial Ladies have been told they are not allowed to say “God bless’ orally or in writing to the families of deceased veterans. Vietnam veteran Nobleton Jones hands shells from 21 gun salutes to families and tells them “We wish that God grant you and your family grace, mercy and peace.” Miss Ocasio has told Mr. Jones that he isn’t allowed to say this to families.

The First amendment to the Constitution does not allow Congress to establish a nationwide religion. However, that doesn’t mean that religion is banned from Federal property. Congress has prayers each day, the Supreme Court has the 10 Commandments posted in their building and prayers are a regular part of Presidential inaugurations. The notion that the first amendment means no religion can ever be part of anything associated with government is ludicrous.

The first amendment doesn’t entitle people to be free from any religious speech. It only entitles people to be free from government creating a nationwide religion. Military funerals are private events and it is disgraceful that the V.A. would attempt to censor religious speech. Just because you’re an atheist doesn’t mean you get to censor everyone else so that you don’t have to hear religious speech. That’s not how the first amendment works nor is it how it should work. You cannot deny others their right to free speech in order to satisfy your selfish desire not to be confronted with the name of God of Jesus Christ.

The notion that pastors must submit prayers for government approval is surely a violation of the so-called separation of church and state the left so loves to talk about. But it’s worse than that. Having pastors submit prayers for approval not only denies pastors their right to religion but it is also a chilling effect on their free speech. After all doesn’t a pastor have the right to speak as he sees fit? Doesn’t a family have the right to hire the pastor of their choosing to conduct their loved ones funeral? Veterans families have enough to deal with when their loved one dies, to force them to submit prayers for approval from a V.A. bureaucrat is outrageous.

These men fought for freedom and the very government they fought for is now attempting to deny them freedom in death. Freedom does not mean being free from hearing things you don’t like. It doesn’t mean freedom from every hearing something religious. The freedom these men fought for includes freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Now the government seeks to deny their families and their pastors both in order to satisfy the selfish desire of a bureaucrat who doesn’t want to hear God mentioned. What an absolute disgrace.

Was Hitler a Christian?

I have often times made the claim that Communism killed as many as a quarter of a billion people in the 20th century. The Soviets and Chinese make up the vast majority of those murdered, with the North Koreans, Cubans and Indo-Chinese making up a good percentage. I’m often confronted with the claim that Hitler was a Christian and that this is somehow proof that Communism alone isn’t to blame for a bloody 20th century. In reality, I include Hitler’s wars and murders because he was a radical leftists. He surely was no Christian.

In Nazi Germany even God was subservient to the state. Hitler rarely spoke about God and when he did he usually used the term ‘almighty’ which is essentially a meaningless word. We can also look at the laws of Germany to determine whether they supported the Christian faith or attacked it. In the late 30′s religious broadcasts were banned from the radio. Book stores were banned from displaying Bibles or religious tracts unless the store exclusively sold religious materials. (these stores were few and far between in Germany) That doesn’t sound like the sort of state that believes in the Christian faith.

Perhaps the best example is found from the Official Guide for the Education of the Hitler Youth. Keep in mind, the Hitler Youth was compulsory for all German youth. The Hitler Youth existed to serve Hitler and the Nazi’s believed they were molding the next generation of Nazi’s. Their education included all the values and goals of the National Socialist German Workers Party.

The Official Guide contained 50 points, 10 of which concerned religious faith. These included:

1: Christianity is a religion for slaves and fools.

2: Christianity and Communism are identical

3: Christianity does not differentiate between white people and Negroes

4: The New Testament is a Jewish lie by four evangelists.

5. The Church is International.

16: There is no Christian Culture

18 Christianity has spoiled the German people, because it has taught them ideas such as adultery and theft, which they had never known.

20. Christianity is only a substitute and cover for Judaism, and was invented by Jews in Rome

21. Jesus Christ was a Jew.

24. How did Christ Die? Whining on the cross. How did Planetta die? Shouting “Heil Hitler!” (Planetta was the murderer of Chancellor Dolfuss).

26. The Ten Commandments are a manifestation of the lowest instincts of humanity.

45. The new Eternal City is Nuremburg. Rome is doomed.

Keep in mind of course that the Nazi’s were National Socialists who hated socialists with an international outlook. International socialists were communists back in the 30′s and took their marching orders from Moscow. Having said that, would a Christian political party declare that the Christian faith is a religion for slaves and fools? Would a Christian teach children that the gospel of Christ is a Jewish lie? Would a Christian nation tell its youth that the 10 Commandments are evil?

I would submit to you that Hitler wasn’t a Christian and the National Socialist German Workers Party had about as much in common with the Christian faith as the Communist Party. The Communists are largely atheists, the Nazi’s were largely old world German occult pagans. The fact that the Christian faith is so roundly attacked in curriculum for the Hitler Youth conclusively proves Hitler’s lack of faith and the National Socialists hatred of the Christian faith. If these people were truly Christians, why ever would they teach the next generation to hate the faith and distrust its truth?
