Obama’s Foreign Policy Legacy Is Inconsistency

Since World War Two second term President’s have cemented their legacy via foreign policy. Reagan won the Cold War during his second term, Clinton had some success in Northern Ireland and Israel. Others like LBJ and Bush 43 got bogged down in unpopular wars. Obama rarely talks about foreign policy anymore, it seems clear he wants to focus exclusively on domestic affairs. This should hardly be surprising if an account by Vali Nasr is to be believed. Nasr describes Obama’s foreign policy as “dithering, controlling and risk adverse.” You might as well add unclear and inconsistent because that’s what it’s been during his first term.

The Pentagon is welcoming a Chinese General who has threatened to nuke the US on a number of occasions. We only owe the Chinese $1 trillion, we aren’t their slaves yet. So why Obama is putting up with Gen. Zhu Chenghu coming to town is anyone’s guess. Interestingly according to Joe Biden, Obama isn’t bluffing when he threatens Iran over their nuclear program. Let’s try to figure this out. We’ll invite a Chinese General who has threatened to nuke the US to the Pentagon but we’ll engage in military action against Iran over their budding nuclear program that hasn’t yet produced a bomb.

Obviously there are some differences between China and Iran. But this example demonstrates the inconsistency the Obama administration has when it comes to foreign policy. That said, does anyone believe Biden when he says Obama isn’t bluffing? So maybe Obama is consistent in appeasing enemies of the United States. In 2008 Obama wanted to personally sit down with Iran. That of course never happened, even though Obama could have easily scheduled such a summit. Iran would have loved the propaganda value of such a meeting, they aren’t responsible for it not taking place. Obama is. We’ve gone from sitting down with them in 2008 to threatening war even though nothing of substance has changed.

Speaking of enemies of the United States, Dennis Rodman’s pal Kim Jong Un claims he’s lifting the cease fire with South Korea on March 11th. North Korea has become increasingly belligerent over the past couple years. Yet Obama doesn’t seem engaged in the area at all. The North Koreans have made threats before of this nature. They’re likely bluffing. So far we don’t even have a statement from Obama on North Korea. He’s probably too busying dithering in the White House fretting about risk while being advised by Valerie Jarrett and other domestic advisers who know little to nothing about foreign policy.

Obama doesn’t seem to have any foreign policy agenda for his second term. His first term left the middle east a complete mess. He seemed to choose sides almost at random in Egypt, Libya and Syria. He’s largely ignored North Korea and Iran’s nuclear programs. Yet he’s going to threaten war over Iran’s while continuing to ignore North Korea’s. Obviously these are different nations with different circumstances. Having said that, North Korea is a direct threat to our ally South Korea. The North Korean’s can start a war today against the South, they can kill tens of thousands easily. Iran is only a threat to Israel, in a substantial way, if they get a nuke. Yet the hardline is taken with Iran (if you believe Obama isn’t bluffing) and North Korea is ignored. It makes no sense and unfortunately this is likely going to be Obama’s second term legacy: He makes no sense.

Madness in Asia: Chinese Powdered Baby Flesh Pills

South Korean Customs officials have reportedly confiscated between 17,000 and 17,500 pills since last August which contain powdered human baby flesh. This is sadly not an internet hoax. The babies come from China where the one child policy has caused forced abortions. Some of the babies were actually born but left to die in China’s “dying rooms” as their parents already have one child. The Daily Mail reports:

The capsules are in demand because they are viewed as being a medicinal ‘cure-all’.

The grim trade is being run from China where corrupt medical staff are said to be tipping off medical companies when babies are aborted or delivered still-born.

The tiny corpses are then bought, stored in household refrigerators in homes of those involved in the trade before they are removed and taken to clinics where they are placed in medical drying microwaves.

Once the skin is tinder dry, it is pummelled into powder and then processed into capsules along with herbs to disguise the true ingredients from health investigators and customs officers.

South Korea is concerned about the potential threat to public health concerning these pills. However the South Koreans don’t want to press the issue lest relations with China take a turn for the worse. Babies are being murdered, sold by corrupt medical workers, dried in microwaves and powdered before being put into pill form and the South Korean government doesn’t want to say anything lest the government that put into place the policy that killed all of these babies be offended.

This is the stuff of Nazi doctor Joseph Mengele. This is the sort of horrifying story one would expect to hear from Holocaust or Gulag survivors, not from South Korean Customs officials who are more concerned about public health than the horrors and indignities these children have suffered. Who are these monsters who believe ingesting human baby flesh is going to work wonders for them? There must be a market for this in South Korea, otherwise 17,000 pills wouldn’t have been confiscated at the border. You know that many more pills made it through without detection. There are monsters in both countries.

Here in the US nothing is being said about this. Nothing is ever said about China’s one child policy, which has lead to forced abortions, sex selective abortions and dying rooms for born babies. Vice President Joe Biden said he understood China’s policy and he wouldn’t dream of “second guessing” it. Really Mr. Vice President, you understand why China would force its citizens to kill their unborn babies or force them to send their newborns to dying rooms lest a family have more than one child? Is this what it’s come down to in this nation and world?

Even if we should happen to elect a President one of these days who cares about China’s one child policy, we don’t even have leverage with which to do anything about it. We owe China over $1 trillion, do you think they’re going to listen to us when we complain about their murderous policy? Barack Obama has racked up over $5 trillion in new debt in just three years in office. Lest my Republican friends rest on this statistic, George W. Bush racked up $4 trillion in eight years. That’s $9 trillion in new debt in just eleven years, a good amount of it financed by China. If a future President challenges China on their killing policy, they’ll flip us the bird and tell us to get lost.

These baby pills are one of the most horrifying stories I’ve read. That people think nothing of ingesting human flesh, that died at the hands of an abortionist or in a baby dying room, ought to greatly disturb the rest of us. Even if some of these babies were simply miscarriages or stillborn, we’re still talking about people eating other people. That South Korea shrugs its shoulders and does nothing, that we here in the US do the same should disturb all of us with a Christian conscience. This is pure madness, it is pure evil. It has become painfully obvious that we have learned nothing from the 20th century.

Is The Age of America Really Over?

The IMF has declared that the age of America will end in 2016 when China will pass the US as the largest economy. Governments and quasi-government agencies often make brash declarations about events years or even decades out. The declarations are largely meaningless and only serve an immediate political purpose. The IMF wants to move away from the dollar and is currently pushing Britain’s Gordon Brown as the next big world leader while moving away from the US in all matters. It’s in their interest to downplay the United States as they attempt to rework the world economy to suit their desires. The IMF’s statement is largely meaningless, except that it aids them in creating a crisis like hype surrounding the dollar.

China is a large and growing economy, there is no doubt about that. But China by no means has a perfect economy that will grow 10% per year forever. China is due for a major market correction. The market often corrects itself after sustained growth as investors over invest in poorly managed businesses and poorly conceived investments. Couple that with China’s government spending and massive government regulation and China doesn’t appear to be quite as rosy as it’s been made out to be.

One need only look at Japan which appeared to be the great economic power that would finally take down the US before its economy collapsed in the 90′s. Japan still hasn’t recovered. I would venture to say that China may be in a worse position that Japan. China is spending its fortune on worthless infrastructure projects that will bankrupt the country.

China has hundreds of bullet trains that Obama thinks are the sort of thing that will save America. But dig a little deeper and you’ll find out that many of China’s bullet trains have no passengers. The trains don’t go to places people want to go to, are expensive and inefficient. China is literally building cities that no one lives in. (view pictures) There are estimated to be 64 million empty homes in these cities. The cities have vast boulevards, massive city hall’s, high rise office buildings, sports stadiums and they all sit empty. China is spending billions on these ghost cities.

China’s wasteful infrastructure spending coupled with the likely market correction of their economy cast serious doubt as to whether they can overtake the US economy. Our economy is weak right now and while it is likely not going to get much stronger in the next couple years, it isn’t going to completely collapse. Even if China is able to inch ahead of the US economy for a couple of years, when China’s economy corrects itself it will be a major correction and it will move far behind the US economy as a result.

The IMF wants the dollar to be eliminated as the world’s currency so it’s in their interest to pretend like China is going to move ahead of the US economy. It isn’t going to happen. That doesn’t mean the US economy is in good shape because it isn’t. The Obama administration has made doing business much more difficult in just two years. The regulations they’re pushing through are having a negative effect ont he economy and the administration’s refusal to drill for more oil coupled with the Fed printing money are creating inflation which is killing the economy and the middle class. Make no mistake, the US economy isn’t looking good. But China’s long term outlook isn’t nearly as rosy as the IMF and others make it out to be.

Obama Desires Dictatorial Powers Like China’s President

According to the New York Times, President Obama believes it would be much easier to be the President of China. After all “no one is scrutinizing Hu Jintao’s words in Tahrir Square.” It’s good to hear that our President would prefer to be a Communist dictator who can imprison or murder opposition. Maybe Obama can call up Hu Jintao and ask him what the best method is for eliminating those pesky tea partiers. Maybe President Hu will offer recommendations for killing off Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanity and Laura Ingraham. Or perhaps President Hu can give Obama pointers for shutting down mouthy news outlets like Fox News.

This sentiment from President Obama isn’t even amusing. We can all enjoy a good chuckle watching Sheila Jackson Lee blabber on or back when he was alive we could all enjoy watching Sen. Robert Byrd babble on about nothing. But we aren’t talking about incomprehensible members of Congress. We’re talking about the President of the United States. That he even entertains the idea of having the sort of power that the dictator of China has is disturbing. There is something obscenely un-American about having the President entertain the idea.

The United States was founded on freedom and limited government. We get our rights not from government but from God. Free speech, freedom of assembly and so on are just a few of the rights God has given us. Yet these are the very rights that Obama wants to eliminate for Americans. I understand that Obama probably made these comments at a moment of frustration, at least that’s what I hope is the case. But it’s important that Obama’s comments are not ignored, lest they become a goal for him or a future President.

We cannot function as a free nation without freedom of speech. We don’t have to like the speech but we must put up with it because it is a fundamental American right, given to us by our creator. It means that people like me have to put up with the speech of unions and their supporters and people like Obama have to put up with the speech of Tea Parties.  You’ll note in China President Hu doesn’t have to put up with any speech he doesn’t approve of. Demonstrations are not allowed, free speech isn’t allowed online and freedom of religion (which goes hand and hand with free speech) is nonexistent in China. Is this what Obama, even for a fleeting moment, wants for the United States? I certainly hope not.

Unfortunately Obama has past associations with communists and socialists and so it makes me wonder whether he really believes in free speech. The history of communist is one that outlaws free speech and kills those who dare to exercise that freedom. This history of socialism is a history of speech codes. Go to an American university sometime and take a look at the endless list of people who cannot be insulted with your free speech. The same is true throughout much of Europe.

We must preserve freedom of speech in this country and so we must battle back against Obama’s remarks if only to make sure he remains committed to free speech. I don’t think Obama is going to be proposing any anti-free speech bills anytime soon but his attitude is disturbing nonetheless. It makes me wonder what’s going on in the regulation world. Let’s hope nothing is going on and let’s  hope Obama refuses to entertain further ideas or further envy of the dictatorial power the Chinese President has.

Freedom In Decline Throughout The World

Freedom is on the decline worldwide according to Freedom House. Around 25 countries showed significant declines in freedom, including China and Venezuela. China has cracked down considerably on ‘dissidents,’ including Christians and freedom seekers. Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez recently suspended the nation’s Congress and has near dictatorial powers these days. In Russia the current regime is cracking down on freedom and is slowly returning to Soviet era policies on freedom.

Iraq and Afghanistan may be more free today in the Islamic world but Lebanon is on the brink of collapse, Egypt continues to crack down on Christians and others while Iran continues to push back against those seeking freedom.

Freedom is given to us by our creator and it is only tyrannical regimes that deny freedom to its people. Sadly, freedom is on the decline throughout the world and tyranny is on the increase. The United States has since its founding been the one nation that has stood for freedom. We have been an inspiration and a goal for freedom seekers throughout the world. Talk to anyone from Eastern Europe who lived during the repressive Communist era and they’ll tell you that they looked to the United States for inspiration, they looked to us for support.

While we in the United States aren’t seeing our freedom ripped away over night by dictators and we don’t jail dissidents, our freedom is slowly eroding. Obamacare seeks to force all Americans to buy health insurance or face a fine. That is the antithesis of freedom. Taxes continue going up, if not at the Federal level than at the state level. Regulations continue to take freedom away from American citizens as the government dictates what kind of lightbulbs we may buy beginning next year. The EPA is set to declare Carbon Dioxide a pollutant, thus allowing them to strip citizens and businesses of freedom. Meanwhile some members of Congress are proposing measures to strip us of gun rights and others are proposing certain speech codes.

Freedom is not something that we maintain simply by birthright. It’s something that must be fought for throughout our lives. The United States remains the freest nation on Earth but we cannot rest on that fact. We must continue to fight for our freedom, we must continue to check our government when they attempt to strip us of our freedom. The United States remains an inspiration to freedom fighters throughout the world. But as Ronald Reagan said if freedom dies here there is no where else to turn in the world.
