Government Schools Dumb Down English With “Informational Texts”

The Obama administration is pushing for a common core for government school course work via his “Race to the Top” program. For obvious reasons part of the common core includes English. Unfortunately the Obama administration isn’t fighting to race to the top in English standards. It’s more like a race to the bottom. The Obama administration is seeking to mandate that 50% of English instruction be “informational texts.” For high school seniors, 70% of their English instruction is required to be “informational texts.” Gone are the historic pieces of literature which have shaped the English language and passed morality and intellectual thought down to generations of Americans. It’s to be replaced with the writings of bureaucrats.

Informational texts include everything from newspaper articles to bureaucratic reports issued by various agencies in Washington. They even include Presidential executive orders. Presumably they also include Congressional bills, though it’s unlikely school children will be reading the Obamacare bill anytime soon. Anyone who has read a bureaucratic report or an executive order knows they don’t come close to displaying the richness of the English language. They tend to be boring, mundane, using simple language and generally they do little more than offer straightforward ideas. Newspaper articles are generally the same in this regard. There’s nothing per se wrong with this of course. However we’re talking about school children in English class, not adults surfing the Internet for information.

Historically not only has English taught children the vast richness of the English language, it has also been a vehicle to pass morality and thought from one generation to the next. Most of the great works of literature in history have contained moral lessons which help shape the morality of the next generation. By ridding the schools even further of an historic moral foundation, we move further from our past. Arguably the schools have already ditched these historic pieces of literature. In the 90′s we were reading dime store novels and other pieces of propaganda. Obama is likely further solidifying the propaganda end of English.

While the government schools are ditching historic morality in English class they are not doing away with morality entirely. English and reading are great ways to instill morality in the young, Obama knows this. Informational texts from the government bureaucracy are most certainly teaching morality. They’re teaching children big government is good, they’re teaching left-wing policies are good. While reading a bureaucratic report is unlikely to inspire children to greater things as an historic piece of literature might, the overall affect of reading dozens of bureaucratic reports and executive orders will affect children. The teaching will be clear, government is good and big government will protect us. It’s the opposite of our historic founding.

It is government programs like this that cause people to pull their kids out of government schools. Obama and the left are once again dumbing down education. They’re going to leave thousands of kids unprepared for college, unless we decide to dumb down college even more with “informational texts.” Kids are never going to learn the richness of our language reading the reports of tiresome bureaucrats and arrogant journalists. It is only through literature that children can truly learn the English language. Unfortunately the government would rather feed kids easy propaganda.

NEA Supports Social Justice; Opposes Conservatives & Republicans

The National Education Association and its various state surrogates largely control education in this country. The NEA is a progressive organization, founded over a century ago to push government funded education on Americans. Knowing that the progressive vision they wanted could not be achieved at the moment, the NEA focused its attention on the next generation. Thus each generation is taught by increasingly progressive teachers and comes out more progressive than their parents. Conservatives love to claim the government schools aren’t successful at educating children. It is true the government schools have a terrible time teaching reading and writing. But that isn’t their goal, their goal is to produce a more progressive generation. In that, the government schools, controlled by the NEA, have been wildly successful.

The NEA recently held their annual Representative Assembly wherein over 9,000 members attended. Executive Director John Stocks admonished NEA members to be “social justice patriots.” Stocks told NEA members to support Occupy Wall Street, the Dream Act and to fight “voter suppression” via photo ID requirements. He attacked Republicans, corporations and “1 percenters.” He praised NEA members who fought Republicans and encouraged even more confrontation.

Keep in mind, Stocks is speaking to the people educating children at your local public school. Some people will listen to his speech and look at the other stuff at the convention and wonder what any of it has to do with educating children. We cannot forget that the NEA doesn’t care about teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. They’ll pay lip service to it of course but it isn’t their purpose. Their purpose is to feed progressive propaganda to children, turn them against their parents if their parents are conservative and thus influence the next generation. Social justice is their goal, not actual education.

If you are a Christian, conservative or Republican why do you have your children in these evil government schools? Those who pretend like their school is the “good” one are usually the ones most fooled by the NEA’s smoke and mirrors. When you have progressives teaching a progressive agenda, it matters not how many kids go to college or how well the football team is playing. Pretending that a school is amazing because it has a French program doesn’t negate the fact that they are teaching students that a conservative outlook is antiquated, that the Christian faith is dead and that evil is good. If you think that NEA teachers check their politics at the door you’re crazy. Why ever would you think that a group of people who go to conventions to attack Republicans wouldn’t launch such attacks in the classroom?

For the Christians sending their kids to these schools, you’re basically sending them into a den of Satan. Prayer is banned, Christians are persecuted and if you think your 10 year old is going to save his fellow students you’re out of your mind. Our children belong to the Lord, not to the government schools. We must raise them and educate them in a Christian manner. The government schools, run by the NEA, do the opposite. They are attacking your child, all in the name of social justice and the progressive way. Why do so many Christians risk their kids at these schools? It is something that forever baffles me.

The NEA is an evil organization. I strongly encourage everyone to buy a copy (or borrow) of Samuel Blumenfeld’s book NEA Trojan Horse. Blumenfeld details the history of government education in America and the evolution of the National Education Association. The origins and goals of the NEA at its founding ought to shock everyone. Their goal has always been a godless, progressive society focused on socialism and social justice. We conservatives and Christians have to make a stand against government education. We must remove our children from these cesspools of progressivism. If we don’t, we’ll sacrifice our children and the next generation. It isn’t enough to support Scott Walker or various state level legislative reforms. It isn’t enough to run for  a spot on the school board. We need to take control ourselves and that means removing our children from these schools. The battle begins at home.

Elizabeth Warren Exposes Academia’s Absurd Racial Preferences

Elizabeth Warren wanted to go places in life. She wanted to be Harvard Law School’s first female minority professor, with all the cafeteria privileges that entails. So in order to do that she began to claim she was a native american, particularly a Cherokee. She based this off of vague stories passed down in her family, though there isn’t a single document proving Indian ancestry nor is she a registered Cherokee. She laid claim to being 1/32 Cherokee, though the facts suggest she’s 0/32 Cherokee.

Everything was going great for Warren. She was an academic, people listened to her and took her seriously because of her claim of American Indian ancestry. She even submitted recipes to an Indian Pow Wow cookbook. (nothing says American Indian like crab omelet and tomato mayonnaise dressing. Cherokee’s also don’t do pow wow’s but who is paying attention.) Warren was going places on her American Indian claim and things were great. Until she decided to run for Scott Brown’s Senate seat. Her political opponents saw a white woman not an American Indian so they looked into her background. Now the world had discovered that Warren is just another white lady, she isn’t special at all.

Cherokee’s are demanding she come clean and admit she isn’t an Indian. Warren cannot do that though because she’s staked her entire career on being an Indian woman. In liberal academia, the color of your skin or your ethnic origins can give you instant credibility. People will listen to what you have to say if you have the right skin color or the right ethnic background. Warren isn’t going to be listened to if she’s just a white lady, unless she’s truly gifted academically. But as an American Indian, her views are automatically listened to in liberal academia. She didn’t have to go through the bother of having to prove her academic worth she had it handed to her by her ethnic claims.

Barack Obama did the same thing. Keep in mind he has always had his eye on becoming part of academic, going so far as to be an adjunct law professor at the University of Chicago. A black man offering perspective on race in America is valued at universities but they’re a dime a dozen. Having a half African, half white American who was born in Africa provide perspective on race relations in America is “unique.” Obama knew that, which is why his literary agent claimed he was born in Africa. It’s all about gaining credibility among liberals, be they smoked salmon socialist in New York’s upper east side or in academia.

The Elizabeth Warren fiasco says a lot about the way leftist colleges and universities run. Warren was only hired by Harvard because she was a minority. Warren knew the only way she could reach the top of the academic world was by being a minority, she knew her views would be listened to as a minority where they likely would be ignored otherwise. She would have still been in academia just not at Harvard. Clearly she wanted to be at the top. That she had to lie about her family history mattered not to Warren. After all who would look into her genealogy in order to call her out? Her mistake was running for Senate, it’s as though she forgot her academic success was based on a lie. The truth is that she lied so much she believed her own lie.

We shouldn’t be listening to people and taking their opinions more or less seriously because of their race. The notion that American Indians have some unique perspective on law and morality is simply absurd. That a half African, half white American born in Kenya and raised overseas has a perspective on race relations in America that is automatically credible because of these facts is equally absurd. Yet this is what happens daily at America’s largely liberal colleges. If you’re a minority, you’re in high demand because you must have something unique to say. If you’re a minority plus (like Obama and Warren) even better. Whether you’re actually talented academically doesn’t matter, all that matters is race and ethnicity. No wonder college degrees are increasingly worthless.

Government Schools List Of Banned Topics

The New York City Department of Education has released a list of banned words that cannot be uttered in New York City government school classrooms. Apparently the words and topics which have been banned might make students feel uncomfortable and we wouldn’t want that would we? These words include slavery, divorce, homelessness, any and all holidays, birthdays, homes with swimming pools, nuclear weapons and poverty.

How a student can learn American history without learning about slavery or nuclear weapons is beyond comprehension. The absurdity of denying that holiday’s exist so as not to offend anyone is ridiculous. Yours truly doesn’t celebrate Christmas or Easter but I’m hardly offended at the mere acknowledgement of these holidays. Just out of curiosity, what teacher is discussion homes with swimming pools in the classroom? Or are these topics that students cannot discuss at all in the government schools of New York City?

A couple things stood out on the list. They didn’t ban discussion of the Jewish Holocaust, which is surprising because it might make people like me uncomfortable to hear about the suffering in the Concentration Camps. Being of Jewish heritage, I almost certainly lost extended family members and you would think that hearing about it would make me as uncomfortable as it would make a black kid when slavery is discussed. There are also some contradictory banned topics, such as pornography which apparently is part of the NYC government school sex ed curriculum in middle school. Evolution is banned, which is surprising considering that it is required indoctrination at government schools. Are we to believe the liberal NYC government schools are going to teach creation?

The New York City government schools aren’t doing a terrific job of educating children in the first place. But when they start banning topics, they’re digging their own grave. A student isn’t going to graduate with an understanding of history when war is a banned topic. Wars have shaped, for better or worse, the course of human events from nearly creation. How can a student understand European history without discussing war? How can American history be understood without learning about war. Our nation was created via a war for independence. That’s apparently a banned topic in New York these days.

Children are being coddled in our society, be it by overbearing attachment parents, overprotective soccer moms or germaphobe dads or by a government that doesn’t want kids to feel uncomfortable for even a moment in school. If it isn’t a list of banned words, it’s teaching kids to be bullying victims rather than standing up for themselves. The government schools are creating a massive education problem by banning topics so that kids don’t feel uncomfortable in school. In doing so, they’re denying these kids a proper education. Granted, the government schools weren’t giving these kids a proper education in the first place. But now, in New York City at least, they’re ensuring it with their list of banned topics.

At what point do we call these schools a failure? How many generations of kids must “graduate” unable to read and write and unable to grasp the simplest concepts in American history before we say the schools have failed? The entire government school system is a failure from top to bottom. Banned topic and word lists are only proof that the schools failed a long time ago. Their focus isn’t on education, it’s on feelings and other assorted nonsense. Had they not failed already, such lists wouldn’t even be created.

Increased Education Spending Hasn’t Yielded Positive Results

Forbes has an interesting article this week detailing the increase in government education spending, which pols call investment. Forbes contrasts the increase in spending with the return on the investment. In the last 60 years government has increased education spending, in 2010 dollars, by almost 13 times. The amount of cash we spend on education is utterly incredible. You would think the return on this investment would be incredible as well. But we all know it isn’t. Forbes focuses on GDP, which has decreased despite the increase in education spending. We could just as easily focus on test scores, which have decreased while the test has been dumbed down despite the massive increase in spending on education.

Education has become nothing more than a massive government bureaucracy that has little to do with education. Pols and government bureaucrats tug on the heart strings of Americans, with visions of children, in order to maintain their cash cow and increase it. Anyone who is against increased spending on education hates children or doesn’t want them to be educated. Or so we’re told.

No one stops to ask why we’re paying over $12,000 per student without seeing any appreciable results. If you do ask such a question, then you might just be one of those dangerous people who hates children and wants to cut back on education funding. But we really must ask if that would be the end of civilization as we know it. Would it matter much if we cut education funding in half? In terms of actual education, it probably wouldn’t matter much at all. The government schools aren’t exactly doing a good job educating children in the first place.

Who would be hurt if we cut tax funding of education? Teachers unions of course would be hurt, which of course means leftists like Obama would be hurt. Did you see the other day that the National Education Association would be joining in on Obama’s truth teams? Soon Johnny will come home to tell you Obama is a saint. School construction companies would be hurt if education funds were cut. They’ve spent the last 50 years living off of government by selling taxpayers the lie that students learn better in new schools. In fact, there’s no difference in results between new schools and dilapidated shacks.

One of the things this country refuses to do is have an honest discussion about government funded education. No one wants to look at the numbers, no one wants to look at the costs. Everyone is convinced that their school is ok, it’s the rest of them that are dreadful. Even numbers don’t convince such people, they know one good teacher and so it must be ok. Parents lie to themselves so they can avoid taking responsibility for their kids education. Unwilling to have an honest discussion, it should surprise no one that the piranhas in the teachers unions and government bureaucracies take advantage and demand more money.

Taxpayers are being taken for a ride when it comes to education. The results just aren’t there. Back in the 50′s parents wondered why Suzie couldn’t read. We’re still asking the same question 60 years later. Only now we wonder why they can’t read, perform basic math or know the first thing about history. Our society is full of people with diploma’s and degrees, but it hasn’t resulted in any substantial economic gain. It certainly hasn’t resulted in an increase in knowledge. So why exactly are we spending so much? That is the question that is heresy to even ask.

Education Freedom Must Be Preserved

Aaron Smith of the Mises Institute wrote an excellent defense of homeschooling this week. My family will be homeschooling our children and in fact we’ve already started with pre-school. Our purpose behind homeschooling is two fold. First and foremost we want to provide our children with religious instruction, in particular we want their education to have a Christian worldview. Second, we want to teach our children with high academic standards. In both cases the local Christian private schools are inadequate and the government schools are out of the question.

We have of course run into objections, largely from my folks. Apparently our children won’t be properly socialized unless they’re taught by progressives at the local government school. This is a common argument against homeschooling and in fact is an incorrect assumption. It assumes two things: That homeschooled children cannot be adequately socialized and that government schooled children are adequately socialized. In terms of the government schooled kids, the drop out rate, the level of violence in school and the generally chaotic classrooms to be found all across the nation suggests that they aren’t adequately socialized. As Smith points out, 2.7 million kids, mostly boys, are socialized via drugs handed out by the school.

Homeschooled kids can socialize as much as they or their parents want. Not being bound to a school schedule, homeschoolers can socialize with others in the community whenever they want. Homeschooled kids are active in political campaigns, they have their own sports leagues and just about any other activity you can think of. It’s all a matter of what interests the child and family, the hallmark of American freedom.

I’ve read countless articles accusing homeschool parents of sheltering their kids, as though Christian parents sheltering their 6 year olds from secularism is the tragic end of the world. All education is taught with a worldview. The government schools are run by progressives and not surprisingly they teach from a progressive, secular worldview. Why would any Christian want to send their kids off to be a taught a worldview directly contrary to our own? We could turn the tables and suggest the government schools are sheltering students from the Christian faith but of course that never happens.

It’s one thing to send a 17 year old high school senior off to learn from a worldview that he doesn’t agree with. Presumably such a student is old enough to recognize the error of secularism and is capable of arguing against it and/or capable of putting it in its place within his own mind. A six year old first grader is incapable of such things. They don’t understand worldviews and aren’t capable yet of recognizing when they’re being taught an incorrect worldview. As a Christian parent it’s my job to protect, shelter if you will, a six year old from such worldviews. It makes no sense to send a child off to learn an anti-Christian worldview for seven hours a day and expect to counteract all of that at home in the evening.

There are of course other reasons to homeschool. In fact, the largest segment of growth within homeschooling doesn’t come from Christians but from secularists who are tired of the dumbed down government school education. You have the leftist unschoolers and the more moderate or even conservative types who simply want their kids to have stronger academics. In a country founded on freedom, educational freedom has to be at or near the top of the list of important freedoms.

Yet the progressive left and teachers unions want to restrict homeschooling and regulate it out of existence. The government continues to regularly harass homeschoolers, as the Home School Legal Defense Association details dozens of cases on a weekly basis. If we are to have freedom continue in this nation, we must be free to educate our children without government progressives restricting us.

14 Year Old Suspended For Opposing Homosexuality In German Class

14 year old Texas high school student Dakota Ary(we’ll reserve judgment on a mother who would name her son Dakota) was suspended from school for telling a friend in class he thought homosexuality was wrong. Ary was in German class wherein the teacher appears to have led a discussion, in German, about religion and homosexuality. It appears that the school suspended him not for talking to his friend but because he opposed homosexuality. The boy was apparently warned by the school not to voice opposition to homosexuality in class.

This entire situation exposes the level of indoctrination taking place in government schools today with regards to homosexuals. This a 9th grade German class, why exactly are they talking about homosexuality. In German no less. This teacher appears to have a history of forcing this issue on students, going so far as to post pictures in his classroom of men kissing. While everyone is up in arms over the absurdity of the suspension, the real issue is that the topic of homosexuality is even being discussed in a German class for 14 year olds.

The topic of homosexuality has no place in the government schools, much less in German class. Yet it’s a topic that is mandated for favorable indoctrination at the government schools in California for children as young as 5. There is an effort taking place in the government schools to make homosexuality normal, which it is not. Not only are they attempting to make it normal, they’re attempting to exalt it. For Christians this is yet another reason why we shouldn’t be sending our children to government schools. For taxpayers, one wonders why we put up with these schools wasting time and money indoctrinating students on fringe issues when the kids can’t read or do math at grade level.

Nothing of course will be done about this teacher who is wasting time in German class pushing a homosexual agenda. Tenure likely protects him, which should outrage all of us. Tenure was meant to protect the academic freedom of college professors. It was never meant to protect grade school teachers from being fired for inappropriate conduct. There ought not be academic freedom in K-12 education. There is no need for it, teachers have no business teaching anything other than what the school has told them to teach. Tenure only protects bad teachers from being fired and it protects radical leftists from being fired for indoctrinating students.

Dakota Ary is yet another victim of the radical homosexual agenda which seeks to demonize anyone, particularly Christians, who oppose it. These people are trying to glorify that which is evil and unseemly. That schools don’t have any problem punishing children who dare express an opposing viewpoint ought to concern everyone. Especially so when we’re talking about German class. Ary’s suspension was ridiculous on its face but the topic of discussion in a 9th grade German class was more ridiculous. If you think this isn’t happening at your government school, you’re sadly mistaken.

Is Higher Education Worth The Debt?

Education is a product. That isn’t a popular idea these days. Schools like to pretend they have some sort of noble goal of educating students and broadening their minds. Schools wish to pretend they do these noble deeds without a profit motive and they scoff at the idea of for profit education. The idea that the world of education is dominated by altruistic good deed doers who educate for the love of education is of course ridiculous. It is also contrary to how the education sector behaves. We’ll focus exclusively on higher education in this entry. We’ll save K-12 for another day.

College is a product. When a school sends out brochures or puts together a website for prospective students, they’re not being nice guys showing 18 year olds the ropes. They’re selling these kids a product. They’re in competition with other colleges and universities, even if they pretend that competition is limited to the football field or basketball court. The fact is, each school markets itself against all other schools. Some colleges focus on particular programs, others focus on the quality of their dorms or the fun associated with their football team. In the end, they’re competing for your tuition dollars. But don’t tell the communists in the Poly Sci department that.

One of the ways in which colleges sell themselves in by telling prospective students of the wonderful high paying jobs they’ll have when they graduate. When I started law school at Case Western Reserve in 2000 the school boasted that nearly all graduates got jobs within 9 months of graduation. The median salary was nearly $100,000. That’s quite a boast but when you’re charging $21,000 a year a school needs to be able to promise that the degree earned will be worth something when a student graduates. Otherwise, it isn’t worth the money.

Today Case Western Reserve’s law school charges around $42,500. That doesn’t include books or room and board. Their web site claims those expenses could add  up to $17,000 or more. In total Case is a $60,000 a year commitment. Mind you, this is a first tier law school. It has a fine reputation. But is it worth $60,000 a year in tuition and expenses? As a graduate, I’ll tell you it isn’t worth it.

The New York Times recently reported on the upswing of law graduates who can’t get jobs in the legal profession. They have non-dischargable loans in the hundreds of thousands and no prospect of getting a good paying job. Jobs at big law firms are drying up. The days of people graduating into $100,000+ jobs are gone. Perhaps the top graduates can get those jobs, at least at the higher tier schools. But that isn’t reality for 95% of graduates of those schools. It’s even less a reality for lower tier schools.

Cooley Law School is being sued by several of its graduates. These graduates claim that Cooley enticed them into buying education from them with exaggerated claims of employment and salary. The fact is, these graduates are probably right. Schools are exaggerating claims of employment, including even those graduates who bus tables as being “employed.” Sure those people are employed, but not as lawyers. Schools also cook the books by claiming exaggerated salaries. Whether Cooley is doing that remains to be seen. It wouldn’t surprise me though.

This sort of thing isn’t unique to law schools. It happens throughout higher education. People buy education without considering that it is a product. They buy the lines that schools give about noble goals and other such hog wash. College is a product and whether you like hearing it or not, it’s not a product that is worth what they say it’s worth. With all due respect to my alma mater, Case isn’t worth $40,000+ a year. It was barely worth $21,000 when I was there. You can extend this argument to all of higher education as costs skyrocket and job availability and salary decline.

Americans need to start re-thinking the value of higher education. We need to start considering whether it’s really necessary for middle managers to have a college degree with a major in history or music appreciation. Do insurance adjusters really need to have a college degree? In our personal lives, we really need to consider whether it’s worth it to take on tens of thousands of dollars in debt. For some professions and at some schools, it may very well be worth it. But for a lot of schools and a lot of professions, the education isn’t worth the debt. Schools are selling you a product and they’re exaggerating what their product is worth. They’re no different than the sellers of hand soap or aspirin. They exaggerate their claims and fudge the numbers. It’s time for consumers of education to start acting like consumers.

Leftist Teachers Union Endorses Obama’s Re-Election

The National Education Association (NEA) has endorsed Obama’s re-election. The NEA is the nation’s largest teachers union, with the most power by far. They won’t even bother giving the Republicans the courtesy of nominating a candidate before endorsing Obama. That ought to tell you how far left the NEA is. The problem with the teachers union being so far left is that their liberal outlook spills over to the classroom. Especially so when the NEA controls the overwhelming majority of school boards.

A former NEA leader told the NEA at their national convention that he and the organization are proud socialists. He wants to take socialism to the classroom, which the NEA has successfully done for generations. Just last school year the NEA supported a Communism day where Mao was glorified in classrooms across the country. Mao of course had tens of millions of Chinese murdered, but I suppose the NEA teachers glossed over that. They’re more interested in the glories of the ‘people’s democracy’ and socialism generally. This is what they’re teaching in American government schools.

The entire history of the NEA is one of socialism. The NEA was founded by progressive socialists like John Dewey. These people wanted to fundamentally change American society by teaching the next generation socialism and state dependence. Dewey and company wanted to break American’s love and admiration of the founding fathers, he wanted our nation to break with its tradition of individual freedom. Early progressives knew the adults of their day were lost to their cause so they focused on children. Slowly over the last century the NEA and government schools have been successful at dumbing down Americans and breeding a dependence on the state. It continues today, as evidenced by the NEA’s control over school boards, curriculum and their love of socialism.

The sad fact is that there is no government school immune from the socialism the NEA is pushing. Your local school may not be controlled by the NEA and perhaps you believe there are a few good teachers in your school. But the fact is the NEA socialists control the teachers colleges, in fact the very existence of teachers colleges are a creation of progressives from a century ago. Make no mistake, the left controls the nation’s teacher’s colleges. The curriculum your school uses is likely created by academics at major teachers colleges, all controlled by the far left. Most of the government school textbooks have a leftist agenda, if not an outright socialist agenda. There’s no  hiding within the nation’s government schools.

There are alternatives. While private Christian schools get their teachers from the nation’s leftist teachers colleges, they will at least allow for religious instruction. Better still is homeschooling, which allows parents to choose what worldview their children are taught. One of the nice things about homeschooling is that parents can outright reject progressive, socialist government schools by teaching a ‘classical education.’ Classical education was specifically singled out by the NEA and education progressives of a century ago as an evil that fostered individual thinking over the collective.

We Christians and conservatives must get our children out of the government schools. The government schools are controlled by leftists who want to use our children to fundamentally transform America into a socialist nation. We can look at our nation’s history over the last century and see that as government schools became more dominate the nation moved left and the quality of education decreased. We have alternatives. We can send our kids to private schools and better still we can homeschool. All Christians and conservatives ought to strongly consider removing their kids from the leftist controlled government schools.

Was Hitler a Christian?

I have often times made the claim that Communism killed as many as a quarter of a billion people in the 20th century. The Soviets and Chinese make up the vast majority of those murdered, with the North Koreans, Cubans and Indo-Chinese making up a good percentage. I’m often confronted with the claim that Hitler was a Christian and that this is somehow proof that Communism alone isn’t to blame for a bloody 20th century. In reality, I include Hitler’s wars and murders because he was a radical leftists. He surely was no Christian.

In Nazi Germany even God was subservient to the state. Hitler rarely spoke about God and when he did he usually used the term ‘almighty’ which is essentially a meaningless word. We can also look at the laws of Germany to determine whether they supported the Christian faith or attacked it. In the late 30′s religious broadcasts were banned from the radio. Book stores were banned from displaying Bibles or religious tracts unless the store exclusively sold religious materials. (these stores were few and far between in Germany) That doesn’t sound like the sort of state that believes in the Christian faith.

Perhaps the best example is found from the Official Guide for the Education of the Hitler Youth. Keep in mind, the Hitler Youth was compulsory for all German youth. The Hitler Youth existed to serve Hitler and the Nazi’s believed they were molding the next generation of Nazi’s. Their education included all the values and goals of the National Socialist German Workers Party.

The Official Guide contained 50 points, 10 of which concerned religious faith. These included:

1: Christianity is a religion for slaves and fools.

2: Christianity and Communism are identical

3: Christianity does not differentiate between white people and Negroes

4: The New Testament is a Jewish lie by four evangelists.

5. The Church is International.

16: There is no Christian Culture

18 Christianity has spoiled the German people, because it has taught them ideas such as adultery and theft, which they had never known.

20. Christianity is only a substitute and cover for Judaism, and was invented by Jews in Rome

21. Jesus Christ was a Jew.

24. How did Christ Die? Whining on the cross. How did Planetta die? Shouting “Heil Hitler!” (Planetta was the murderer of Chancellor Dolfuss).

26. The Ten Commandments are a manifestation of the lowest instincts of humanity.

45. The new Eternal City is Nuremburg. Rome is doomed.

Keep in mind of course that the Nazi’s were National Socialists who hated socialists with an international outlook. International socialists were communists back in the 30′s and took their marching orders from Moscow. Having said that, would a Christian political party declare that the Christian faith is a religion for slaves and fools? Would a Christian teach children that the gospel of Christ is a Jewish lie? Would a Christian nation tell its youth that the 10 Commandments are evil?

I would submit to you that Hitler wasn’t a Christian and the National Socialist German Workers Party had about as much in common with the Christian faith as the Communist Party. The Communists are largely atheists, the Nazi’s were largely old world German occult pagans. The fact that the Christian faith is so roundly attacked in curriculum for the Hitler Youth conclusively proves Hitler’s lack of faith and the National Socialists hatred of the Christian faith. If these people were truly Christians, why ever would they teach the next generation to hate the faith and distrust its truth?
