In 20 Years Guns Double, Gun Crime Down 70%

In the last twenty years the number of privately owned guns in the United States has roughly doubled. There are approximately 300 million privately held firearms in our nation today. Millions more are being purchased every month as Americans fear gun control regulations will limit their second amendment rights. If one were to listen to the hysterical Democrats and their surrogates in the media, one would think the doubling of guns in this country would equal a massive increase in the number of murders and other violent felonies. In fact 50% of the country thinks violent crime has increased over the last twenty years. In fact, it’s decreased dramatically.

In the last twenty years murders are down almost 40%. Gun murders are down almost 50%. Violent crimes involving guns are down around 70%. These are dramatic decreases in violent crimes committed with guns and yet our nation roughly doubled the number of privately held guns. How can it be that a nation which doubled its guns saw crime drop so much? Obviously there are a lot of factors in the decrease in the number of violent crimes committed. One of them undoubtedly is that a significant number of potential violent criminals are fearful that a potential victim is carrying a gun. That fear is a significant deterrent.

These numbers aren’t exactly surprising to those who believe in a robust second amendment. Since 1960 all of the mass public shootings in the US but one took place at a location where firearms were banned. You could probably throw in most of the European mass public shootings as well, they have these events just as much as we do despite severe firearm restrictions. When potential criminals aren’t afraid of their victims being able to defend themselves, they’re emboldened to commit crimes. There’s a reason why mass public shootings happen at government schools and movie theaters and malls which ban guns but not at NRA conventions.

In the 90′s it was popular for European visitors in Florida to put a NRA sticker on their rental car or wear a NRA hat. At the time, European travelers were targeted by criminals for muggings and car jackings because they were vulnerable targets. The NRA paraphernalia warded off potential attackers who were afraid these people might be packing a firearm. That they were not doesn’t really matter, it’s the fear a criminal has that is important. If a criminal fears violent retaliation they’re less likely to engage in a criminal act.

Yet the Democrats want to restrict access to firearms in this country. They want to ban certain kinds of guns and ban certain kinds of magazines or clips. They want to make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain a firearm. Yet all of the evidence available to us indicates that more firearms aids in having less crime. We’ve doubled our guns in the United States and at the same time violent crime with a gun is down 70% and murders with a gun are down 50%. We have 300 million guns in the hands of private citizens, the government isn’t going to be able to confiscate all of these weapons. Rather than trying to restrict access to more firearms, we would be better off allowing American citizens to exercise their gun rights. Would it shock anyone if crime dropped as a result? Probably only Democrats.

Why Forcing Through Amnesty For Illegals Is Wrong

Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were in the United States legally. Dzhokhar became an American citizen last year after having largely grown up here. Tamerlan was a resident alien, here legally though the government could have deported him based on a 2009 arrest for domestic violence. As recently as six months ago the Russian government warned our government about Tamerlan and his ties to radical Islamic groups. Our Federal government did nothing about it. The FBI had interviewed him two years ago due to his ties to radical Islamic groups, again the government did nothing. Tamerlan could have been deported for those ties, Dzhokhar it appears was never questioned about his brother prior to becoming a citizen.

We have clear problems with our immigration system. The Saudi national who was at the scene of the bombings last week and questioned by the FBI before being released is apparently on the do not fly list. He’s here on a student visa, supposedly going to a school in Findley, Ohio. So why does he have an apartment in Boston? This is just another in a long line of terrorists who the government granted student visas to. Even if you believe this guy isn’t a terrorist, in the very least the Feds have lost track of him. After all, he’s supposed to be going to school in Ohio yet he lives in Boston. All of this is part of our immigration system, which if it isn’t outright incompetent at least has glaring holes.

Yet progressives on both sides of the aisle what to rush through a bill that would grant amnesty to illegals and make it more difficult to enforce existing laws. We’ve been told that we ought not dare “politicize” last weeks bombings by tying them to immigration. We really don’t need to politicize the Boston Marathon bombing, we need only point out the glaring problems our immigration system has. We allowed a terrorist to become a US Citizen without properly vetting him. We could have deported a person known to have terrorist ties and yet chose not to. We have a 20 year old with a student visa for a school in Ohio who apparently lives in Boston. Why doesn’t the government know that?

All of these people are here legally yet the left, including supposedly conservative Sen. Marco Rubio, want to give amnesty to a bunch of people living here illegally who we know nothing about. How many of them are terrorists? How many of them are really from the middle east, sneaking over one of our borders undetected? Suddenly we’re going to make these criminal terrorists American citizens. This issue goes well beyond a few million poor Mexicans living here illegally. When the government doesn’t appear to have control of our legal immigration, it seems utterly absurd to try tackling illegal immigration.

Yet to suggest this is nothing short of outrageous these days. We’re expected to bury our heads in the sand and ignore the very clear legal immigration problems we have. When the left cannot win the argument, they’ll just call us racists for wanting to enforce the law. Obama and members of both parties are going to try to force amnesty for illegals down our throat over the next two months or less. They’re going to push even harder before we fully understand what happened in last week’s bombings. We need to fight back on this one. How can we legalize millions of people here illegally when we can’t even count on the Federal government to do background checks and routine checks on people who are here legally? How can we justify allowing millions of people to simply to declare themselves here legally without any checks whatsoever?

Who Do Your Children Belong To?

Who do your children belong to? The answer of course is that they belong to God. In fact, we all belong to God as he created us from dust. From here the question is who did God entrust with the raising of children. The answer is families, on the specific issue of education (spiritual and otherwise) the answer is fathers. Remove God from the equation and the question becomes open and debatable. Over at MSNBC, host Melissa Harris Perry wants children raised by the collective. She wants to rid the world of the idea that children belong to their parents, she doesn’t like this sort of individual thinking. Thus we have a debate as to whether children belong to their parents or the collective.

Briefly looking at Perry’s statement, it could have easily been said during the progressive heyday in the early 20th century. The whole point of government education was to separate children from their parents and indoctrinate them at schools which were charged with shifting the nation in a progressive direction. Thomas Dewey and Horace Mann, the fathers of the progressive government school movement were quite up front about what they were doing. Leftists the world over followed their lead. Hitler dismissed opposing ideology by claiming that the Nazi’s already had the children and their parents beliefs would be gone soon. All of the communists banned private education. In Germany today homeschooling remains illegal thanks to laws ordained by Hitler.

The flip to this is the libertarian notion that children belong to their parents. Perhaps more extreme libertarians might argue that children belong to themselves. Either way, we Christians must be careful with this position as well. We are charged with raising children in a Godly manner. While we certainly find more agreement with the libertarian or individualist position, it’s still not one that we should fully embrace. We are only entrusted with raising our children, they don’t belong to us. Having said that, individual families making individual choices for their children is far more preferable than leaving children to be raised by the whim of a collective. (read: government)

Parents know what’s best for their children. Government really ought not have any say over the matter. For the progressives, this position is a threat because they know they can’t change American society without capturing children. Just look at the homosexual marriage issue, 15 years ago the overwhelming majority of Americans opposed homosexual marriage. Today a majority support it. The difference? A generation of young people have been indoctrinated in the virtues of homosexuality at the government schools. It’s the young who support it the most. If government and progressives didn’t have access to the nation’s children support for homosexual marriage would be nowhere near what it is today.

It should hardly come as a surprise when the progressives over at MSNBC push collectivist ideas. What’s interesting is that they did it in a promo so it was a planned statement rather than a spontaneous comment made during a debate. MSNBC is doubling down on their extreme left-wing propaganda. Look for them to feature more collectivist ideas in promos and ads in the future. Miss Perry’s position is wrong of course. Our children don’t belong to a collective, it does not take a village to raise children. It takes a family, with one mother and one father if you want the best odds for children to grow up happy and successful. In the end, our children and we ourselves belong to God. We don’t belong to ourselves or to a collective, we belong to God.

Bolling Is Right, Rice Firing Is The Wussification Of Sports

Former Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice was fired earlier in the week after footage appeared of him yelling , throwing balls and otherwise “abusing” players. This prompted pats on the back for Rutgers from most of the media. The exception is Fox News’ Eric Bolling who claims it’s an example of the “wussification” of sports. Bolling couldn’t be more spot on. We’ve reached the point in American culture where anything masculine and manly is degraded, criticized and removed from society. Whether it’s football trying to remove violence from the game or basketball spending inordinate amounts of time reviewing replays to determine whether fouls are “flagrant” masculinity is under attack in sports.

Mike Rice is perhaps an easy target because his teams haven’t performed well and odds are he was on his way out anyway. But what he did in practice isn’t that big of a deal. He’s charged with coaching this team and doing so requires more than teaching x’s and o’s. In many ways these coaches are like Army drill sargents, they ultimately have to tear someone down so they can build them up again in a stronger, more foundational way. The timid souls in the media might not like what Rice did, but make no mistake he had a purpose behind what he was doing. He was trying to build these kids up again by tearing them down during an early season practice.

This is hardly an uncommon tactic. We here in Michigan get to watch Tom Izzo attack and question his team every November only to watch them perform well at the end of the season. While Izzo has never been accused of the sort of things we saw out of Rice, we’ve seen him get physical with players during games. It isn’t a big deal, most of us figure Izzo knows what he’s doing. We can all think of a few football coaches who we could easily imagine throwing footballs and kicking players. (read: Nick Saban) These coaches are taking a bunch of young boys and building them into men. only in the liberal world is this viewed as a negative.

Unfortunately the left controls the media, including ESPN. That network spends an inordinate amount of time fretting over concussions to the point that football is fundamentally changing for the worse. In a decade, the football Americans love won’t exist anymore. This is what Bolling is getting at. We’re wussifying American culture by getting rid of masculinity. We’re creating a generation of sissy’s who are afraid to hit in football and who are so entitled as to think no one can criticize them during practice. We aren’t creating men, we’re creating the sort of boy men that live in their parents basement until they’re 35, expect an executive job right out of college and who don’t really want to work. Dare criticize the precious little souls and they fall to pieces.

Men and masculinity have been downgraded in culture for years. Fashion is run by a cabal of women and sissy homosexuals. Hollywood is more interested in boyish men than masculine men. Feminism has corrupted education to the point where manliness is taught as a negative rather than a positive. What happened to Mike Rice is ridiculous. He should have been fired because his teams stunk, not because he yelled at players and threw a couple of balls. That media outcry is what led to his firing shows us a lot about the intentions of the sports media. They won’t be satisfied until manliness is truly eliminated from sports.

Godless Libertarians Veer Left

Ann Coulter got into it the other day with John Stossel and a bunch of college libertarians. Coulter called out libertarians for focusing on weak positions on issues that don’t matter while ignoring bigger issues that perhaps could use libertarian ideology. If one pays attention to college libertarians you’ll notice that they spend time grousing about economics and less government regulation without providing any real details. But their eyes light up when it’s time to talk about legalizing drugs, homosexual marriage and the War on Terror.

In other words, they’re not standing for anything at their college because on the hot button issues of the day they already take the liberal position. This is why there isn’t a crusade at America’s universities to rid them of vile student libertarians. They have no influence because when it comes down to it, all they want to talk about are the issues in which they agree with the left. Oh sure they complain about the national debt and the TSA, but even liberals do that while blaming Republicans. College libertarians might read Ayn Rand rather than Marx or Alinsky but when it comes to campus debate the issues libertarians really want to talk about are ones they agree with liberals on.

Coulter is absolutely right to point this out. If you watch the video, the group of college libertarians is never so animated as when the topic of drug legalization comes up. They boo and hiss over Coulter’s position on homosexual marriage even though she’s absolutely right. It’s absurd to argue the state should get out of marriage, they’re already in it via divorce, taxes, benefits etc. Not a one of the crowd, Stossel included, is willing to concede that there might be more important issues out there. Conservatives and libertarians largely agree on economic issues but libertarians never seem to desire sharing agreement with us. They would rather focus on nonsense liberal issues.

Coulter doesn’t make this argument but she exposes why Christians need to run from the libertarian movement. These people at their base have no morality. When it comes to abortion they’re going to agree with the left that the state shouldn’t ban abortion. One wonders if they would support state involvement in the prosecution of murder. Some like Prof. Hans Herman-Hoppe might not. On homosexual marriage they have no problem with it, they whine the state shouldn’t be involved even though the state is and always has been involved in marriage. These are the issues that get the libertarians in college all excited.

Is this the sort of group you want your Christian son or daughter part of? Honestly, what’s the difference between these libertarians and the liberal Democrats? The libertarians present themselves better, they all look like they’ve had a bath in the last 24 hours. But in terms of ideology, on the subjects they care most about, the libertarians sound exactly like liberal Democrats. Christians must stand for truth, which is why we must flee this godless ideology.

If the libertarians spent their time focused on economics, they might find they agree with those on the right. Unfortunately they don’t want to focus on issues that really matter. The libertarians could join with Republicans and work to elect conservatives with a libertarian economic outlook. But the libertarians won’t do that because at the end of the day most of the college libertarians don’t know the slightest thing about economics. They don’t fully care yet because they aren’t really part of the workforce yet. But they do care about legalizing drugs, abortion and homosexual marriage. These are the future leaders of the libertarian movement. What direction do you suppose libertarianism is going to take in the next decade. A hint: They’re more likely to align themselves with the left than the right.

Progressive Bully Samuel Betances Outrageous Cumpulsory USDA Seminar

The USDA has paid $200,000 for a series of compulsory seminars given by “biracial, bicultural and bilingual citizen of the world” Samuel Betances. In these “cultural sensitivity training” seminars Betances has ordered those attending to say in unison “thank you black folks.” “the pilgrims were illegal aliens,” and “the pilgrims never gave their passports to the Indians.” Interestingly the USDA spent most of last year claiming that video of the seminar didn’t exist and that participants did not chant in unison. The video exists and it’s clear Betances prompted Federal employees to not only say things in unison but make charged political statements.

Sensitivity training is nothing more than the plaything of radical leftists who want to browbeat the public into catering to left-wing social justice. Can you imagine the outrage the government brought in a speaker and ordered a group to say “thank you white people.” The mainstream press would go mad and they would be right to do so. But when a “sensitivity trainer” has people say “thank you black people” that’s perfectly acceptable to the mainstream press and the story is ignored. Yet it isn’t acceptable. Not only is it racist but it’s a gigantic waste of tax money.

Betances is nothing but a progressive peddling propaganda  under the guise of sensitivity. Having people chant in unison has been a progressive trick for the better part of a century. It diminishes the individual while making clear that the group and what the group thinks rules. Those who may not be comfortable with what’s being said are intimidated into silence by the one voice of the group. Thus the individual is rendered powerless and far more likely to simply join the group, even if they may be predisposed to opposing the group’s ideas. Betances is nothing more than a progressive bully being paid for with tax money.

The notion that the Pilgrims were illegal immigrants will probably get most of the play within the conservative media. Betances declaration is of course ridiculous, last I checked the Indians never asked for anyone’s passport. In fact, there was no Indian state or Indian authority to say nothing of no Indian laws regarding immigration. That Betances is having the USDA employees make politically charged statements on the job is outrageous in light of the fact that government employees are supposed to act in an apolitical manner. It’s one thing to tell government employees to treat illegals kindly, it’s another thing to call into question the very foundation of the country while clearly lobbying for illegals.

Unfortunately Betances seminar and tactics are all too common in this country. Go to any college campus and you’ll find the same thing, arguably more overt as well. You can probably find them at other government school institutions as the teachers unions love nothing more than to bring in a propaganda speaker. It shouldn’t shock us that the Federal government under Obama is wasting our tax dollars on this nonsense. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do anything about it. It’s programs like this that we need to target for elimination from the budget. Taxpayers shouldn’t be funding this propaganda.

Poop Ship Shows How Quickly Society Breaks Down

By now everyone has heard about the so-called poop cruise ship that spent most of last week in the Gulf of Mexico. This ship had around 5,000 passengers and crew, lost power after an electrical fire. Not only did they lose most of their power, they lost control of their sewage system, causing backups and general problems. This story is interesting for a couple of reasons. First is the media over hype, which went as far as to suggest that a cruise ship power failure was like Hurricane Katrina. Second, it’s interesting how quickly society falls into chaos.

The media is perhaps easiest to make fun of. It is hardly surprising that the press loves this story. Nothing could be more exciting than a cruise ship full of stranded passengers and backed up toilets. Never mind that no one was in any real danger, they weren’t really stranded in the middle of the Ocean with no help in sight. No doubt these passengers had a trying five days at sea but the media blew this into a side show all last week. Between comparing the trials of cruise ship passengers to those who suffered after a hurricane and cutting off Bible quoting cruise survivors, the media made fools of themselves yet again last week.

What is really interesting about this cruise ship is how quickly society fell apart. Obviously Carnival Cruise lines wasn’t really prepared for this sort of a disaster at sea. Nevertheless, no one on board was in any danger and Carnival so much as told passengers that. Less than half a day into this ordeal, one passenger freaked everyone out by shouting ”they’re lying to us!” Passengers became desperate for news as they no longer had internet access. When food was made available, people at the front of the line gorged themselves as though food would never be offered again. It’s amazing fights didn’t break out between rival gangs of passengers. Perhaps in another day or two it might have happened.

Obviously not everyone behaved poorly. There are accounts of people making friends on board, suffering through five inconvenient days together both befuddled and amused by it all. Society collapsed on board this ship and it should concern us should society ever collapse on land. We in the United States like to pretend that disasters on the sort of scale that collapse societies don’t happen here. Yet in the past decade we’ve had two hurricanes that collapsed local society and neither ended well. Hurricanes in New York and New Orleans saw thousands of people unable to take care of themselves, largely because they had no idea how to.

After those hurricanes people looked to a government that eventually showed up. One wonders what happens if government no longer exists or if it is incapacitated to the point where it cannot show up. How quickly will society devolve into utter chaos? On board a cruise ship it was a matter of 12 hours before people freaked out. Looting happened almost immediately in New York and New Orleans after hurricanes. If God forbid nuclear weapons incapacitate our government how long will it take for society to completely collapse in America? It’s a good bet that it will be less time than you initially think.

We live in a relatively secure society. Despite the media hype about gun violence and chaos, most Americans live a safe and secure life. This is why events such as 9-11 shock us so much, attacks on our safety are so few and far between we don’t even consider them in any serious way. That’s probably not such a good idea. We have enemies out there like Iran and North Korea who would almost certainly use nuclear weapons against us if they could. We have a national debt we can never hope to pay off that could truly collapse the dollar and our society some day. While we should avoid becoming survivalist crazies, it wouldn’t kill Americans to be a little more prepared than we are today. There is no guarantee the nanny state will be there to protect you when disaster strikes. In fact, you can probably bet that the state won’t be there.

Why Are Extreme Leftists Supporting Cop Killer Christopher Dorner?

Christopher Dorner is a former LAPD cop, fired in 2008. After nearly five years he’s taken “revenge” against the police department by killing a cop and two others. He’s released a manifesto wherein be praises President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Piers Morgan and supports gun control. Interestingly the media largely left information about Dorner’s left-wing politics out of their reporting. Suddenly they aren’t interested in announcing the politics of a cop killer. This after accusing every mass public shooter since 2009 of either being a right-winger or a member of the Tea Party. Unable to link any of these people with the Tea Party, they blamed Sarah Palin and the NRA.

Leftists are coming out of the woodwork to support Dorner. They find him to be a hero. What is it with the far left and cop killers? They have long supported cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, claiming he is a political prisoner. Now they’re supporting Christopher Dorner. Some of these folks claim there is corruption in the LAPD. That’s fine and dandy, there may very well be massive corruption within that police department. How does that justify murdering cops? Especially so when Dorner was fired over four years ago. This guy isn’t a hero, the’s a calculating cold blooded murderer.

Dorner is also a leftist, which is why the media isn’t reporting about his manifesto in a truthful manner. Dorner had the following to say in his manifesto:

Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, Pat Harvey, Brian Williams, Soledad Obrien, Wolf Blitzer, Meredith Viera, Tavis Smiley, and Anderson Cooper, keep up the great work and follow Cronkite’s lead. I hold many of you in the same regard as Tom Brokaw and the late Peter Jennings. …

Willie Geist, you’re a talented and charismatic journalist….

You disrespect the office of the POTUS/Presidency and Commander in Chief. You call him Kenyan, mongroid, halfrican, muslim, and FBHO when in essence you are to address him as simply, President. The same as you did to President George W. Bush and all those in the highest ranking position of our land before him. Just as I always have. You question his birth certificate, his educational and professional accomplishments, and his judeo-christian beliefs. You make disparaging remarks about his dead parents…

If you had a well regulated AWB, this would not happen. The time is now to reinstitute a ban that will save lives. Why does any sportsman need a 30 round magazine for hunting? Why does anyone need a suppressor? Why does anyone need a AR15 rifle? This is the same small arms weapons system utilized in eradicating Al Qaeda, Taliban, and every enemy combatant since the Vietnam war. Don’t give me that crap that its not a select fire or full auto rifle like the DoD uses. That’s bullshit because troops who carry the M-4/M-16 weapon system for combat ops outside the wire rarely utilize the select fire function when in contact with enemy combatants….

Mr. (Piers) Morgan, the problem that many American gun owners have with you and your continuous discussion of gun control is that you are not an American citizen and have an accent that is distinct and clarifies that you are a foreigner. I want you to know that I agree with you 100% on enacting stricter firearm law.

Isn’t it interesting that the media has largely ignored this information about Dorner. He is a gun control leftist, who interestingly used guns to murder a cop and two others. He supports the left-wing media, he supports President Obama. The media is focused on his accusations of corruption in the LAPD, that’s only half the story. Dorner is a leftist, who like Mumia Abu-Jamal is on a leftist crusade. If Dorner praised Republicans and the Tea Party you can bet CNN would talk about it endlessly. CNN still hasn’t mentioned Dorner’s praise of their weeknight headliner.

Christopher Dorner exposes the worst of the far left and the bias within the media. The far left loves them a cop killer, especially one with a broader political agenda. In this world accusing a police department of corruption is justification for murder. As for the media, we once again see how they treat conservatives and liberals differently. Liberal crimes get brushed under the rug, political liberals who kill are never identified as such. Conservatives are accused, usually without evidence, and the media uses their politics as evidence of criminal activity. In the media world liberals are heroic and cannot be attacked, conservatives are evil and may be attacked without justification. In Dorner we’ve gotten to see this in play yet again.

The Danger Of Modern Eugenics

Eugenics is something people don’t want to talk about, especially on the progressive left. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries eugenics dominated the progressive movement. The progressives were going to create a strong race, free of undesirables like the mentally ill, blacks, Jews, eastern Europeans, Asians etc. Government was going to create a better society via laws which followed eugenic science. The result is that over 65,000 Americans were sterilized by law in the United States. The science in the United States which supported eugenics provided the foundation for the German National Socialists to declare themselves an Aryan master race. The National Socialists managed to sterilize 400,000 and murder 12 million “inferior” and otherwise “undesirable” people.

Eugenics was a legitimate science that was supported by legitimate progressive politicians. Scientists like Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, biologist Charles Davenport, Henry Goddard, Harry Laughlin and Madison Grant believed in scientific eugenics. Eugenics and eugenic research was supported by the President’s of Harvard, Princeton, Stanford etc. President’s Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson support eugenic legislation based on the scientific consensus that was forming in the ivy leagues on the matter. This was not the playground of backwater hillbilly’s in Alabama or KKK members in Indiana. This was science as supported by influential Ivy League institutions for decades.

Eugenics fell out of favor after World War Two. The National Socialist’s gas chambers shocked a world that got to see the conclusions of eugenics put into real action. It was no longer acceptable to want “inferior” races killed off, especially with the grotesque pictures of hundreds of dead Jews stacked up like logs floating around the media. That doesn’t mean eugenics was eliminated among the progressive left. Abortion was supported initially as a way to kill black babies. Half of the abortion clinics in the United States are in black neighborhoods. Rather than mandate government action, the progressive left simply calls it a right.

Race and ethnicity is no longer the focal point of eugenics these days. Politics may end up being the new frontier in the eugenics movement. Al Gore on MSNBC the other day had this to say:

I think, first of all, scientists now know that there is, in human nature, a divide between what we sometimes call ‘liberals’ and ‘conservatives, and it gives an advantage, you can speculate, to the human species to have some people who are temperamentally inclined to try to change the future, experiment with new things, and others who are temperamentally inclined to say, ‘Wait a minute, not too fast, let’s make sure we don’t do anything rash here.

Al Gore is setting us up for future “research” which will show genetic differences between progressive liberals and conservatives. Time a couple years ago ran an article claiming a “study” proved progressive liberals are smarter than conservatives. Last year the Huffington Post ran an article about a study which claims lower IQ scores are linked to conservatives and racists. All of this goes together, the progressive left is creating a “science” around the supposed genetic inferiority of conservatives. Since in our society science is to be implicitly trusted, if not worshipped above all else, the progressive left is creating scientific reasons to rid society of conservatives.

Their goal likely isn’t extermination camps. The progressive left has two lines of attack on these “scientific” conclusions. The first is purely political. By suggesting conservatives are low IQ and unintelligent they want to scare people into voting for the “intelligent” progressive liberal. Obama is the smartest man ever to sit in the White House while George W. Bush was portrayed as a monkey. The second is perhaps the more dangerous of the two. The progressive left could desire genetic testing to determine whether a child will be a progressive liberal or a conservative. The results could determine a child’s upbringing and education. Superior liberal genes in one school, inferior conservatives in another. You can’t argue with science of course.

We need to be very careful about science in this century. There are lessons from history that we can look at and learn from, if only we are willing. It’s easy to dismiss the National Socialists as a bunch of racist bigots led by a mad man. But they had a science in eugenics, which they got from America, backing up their racism. It’s easy to dismiss the eugenics movement of the late 19th and early 20th century in America as the work of racists, it’s even easier to lie and claim they were conservatives when the truth is that eugenics was one of the main platforms of the progressive liberal movement. If we simply dismiss the science behind eugenics as flawed or biased, we’re not going to learn how dangerous it can be to put our faith in science alone. We are not so enlightened in 2013 that we cannot be duped by biased mad men with credentials and white lab coats.

Homosexual Left’s War On Religion

A baker in Oregon is facing the wrath of the state government Aaron Klein is a Christian who owns a bakery called Sweet Cakes. A lesbian couple wanted Klein to make a wedding cake for them but were refused when Klein cited his religious opposition to homosexual marriage. Rather than find another baker to bake a cake, the lesbians ran to the state government who are now threatening up to $50,000 in fines. It seems that the free exercise of religion ends when liberals don’t like the end result. Klein says he would rather lose his business than bake cakes for a wedding he religiously opposes.

This is the cutting edge of discrimination against Christians in our country. Under the banner of tolerance, state and local governments harass Christians who disagree with homosexual marriage. These lesbians aren’t content with having what they know is a bogus wedding, they want to destroy a Christian bakery in the process. These people could care less about the cake, this isn’t about cake. It’s about the left forcing it’s view on everyone else via law. If it was about cake, these lesbians would go to another baker. After all, who would want a cake from someone who didn’t want to make it? Especially when there are other bakers around. They don’t want cake, they want to shut down opposition via law.

If Oregon is successful, where does that leave the free exercise of religious faith? We could ask the same question if the Obama administration is successful in its birth control demands for health insurance policies at places like Hobby Lobby. We know the left doesn’t particularly care for religion, much less the free exercise of it. Their view of the free exercise clause is that exercising religion is something that takes place behind closed doors, in churches or perhaps in their dream world in closets. It isn’t something that is public, done in the town square or via a business. Obama’s attack on free exercise of religion coupled with Oregon’s make this abundantly clear.

If we cannot exercise our religious faith in our business then we lose the same rights that we would lose if the government banned religious faith altogether. These lesbians lose nothing by being denied sale of a cake at Sweet Cakes. There is nothing stopping them from going to another bakery. Surely in liberal Oregon there are dozens of bakers who would complete for a lesbian wedding cake. So while the lesbians are out nothing, they and the State of Oregon seek to take away from Klein a fundamental constitutional right. Make no mistake, this is their goal. They don’t want us to be able to freely exercise our faith so long as it stands in opposition to the left’s political agenda.

Klein may very well have a Supreme Court case if he can afford to pursue it. It is nothing short of outrageous that the free exercise of religion is being trampled on in the name of left-wing “tolerance.” The left wants to force everyone to support homosexual marriage and they’ll apparently go as far as to attempt to shut businesses down when they dare to disagree. The left’s war on religion has been made abundantly clear in the last year. We who are of faith must fight back against this infringement on our Constitutional rights. If we do not, we will lose our right to freely exercise our faith forever.
