Obama Releases Criminals In Dramatic Sequestration Stunt

The world ends in two days. Obama and Washington Democrats are in near hysterics over $85 billion in sequestration cuts. We’re talking about 2% of the Federal budget, yet you’d think the entire government will shut down. Teachers will be fired, police and firemen won’t protect people, 800,000 civilian military employees will be furloughed, border patrol won’t be able to protect the nation. All of this over $85 billion in cuts. Obama is turning into the boy who cried wolf, at some point no one is going to believe him anymore. The Republicans need to stand firm and do nothing so the country can see the world doesn’t end when the Federal budget is cut.

This of course won’t stop Obama from going to extremes. The Federal government has been releasing detained illegal immigrants in preparation for budget cuts at the end of the week. This is Obama at his cynical worst. The amount of money being cut from the budget is so small, it’s almost ridiculous that we’re having this battle. Yet here is the President who can’t seem to find any fat to cut out of the Federal budget, so he’s going to release detained illegals. Talk about a dereliction of duty. Obama is engaging in the worst sort of politics.

No matter how outrageous Obama is being about these cuts, we should let him go ahead and release illegals. In fact, we should encourage him to release other Federal prisoners. After all, we couldn’t possibly afford to pay for prison guard with a nearly $4 trillion Federal government. Let him do it, Obama will be digging his own political grave. The public favors cuts. They look at the $1 trillion deficit we have every year and can’t figure out why it can’t be reduced. The President won’t cut a paltry $86 billion without resorting to cynical dramatics. The President is crying wolf and no one buys it.

In 18 months no one will remember sequestration unless the President gets heat for releasing illegals or other prisoners. In 1988 no one would have remembered Michael Dukakis’ ridiculous murderer furloughs but for the fact that Willie Horton murdered someone on furlough. The illegals the Feds detain these days aren’t low wage berry pickers or lawn mowers, they’re criminals. The President is releasing criminal illegals in a cynical attempt to make Republicans back down on cutting 2% of the Federal budget. When the mid-term elections roll around, the public isn’t going to blame Republicans for cutting the budget. They’ll blame the President for choosing to release criminals, especially if one of those criminals kills someone.

None of these threats from the President should deter Republicans from making these paltry cuts to the Federal budget. We have a $16.5 trillion debt that Democrats don’t like hearing about. We’re entering our 5th straight year of having a budget deficit over $1 trillion. Yet the President can’t find anything out of the budget to cut other than funding to detain criminals and anything else that is dramatic. People aren’t paying attention to sequestration, the public doesn’t care about it. They’ll care a lot when the President dramatically releases a criminal who goes on a murder spree. Otherwise, the President has cried wolf once to often. No one cares anymore.

Obama seems to be determined to “make the GOP pay” for daring to resist his charm, wit, and overall arrogance. (Sarcasm is fully intended.) Releasing these illegal immigrants is just one more step in that direction.

One other thing struck me while reading your post. For all the talk about how inefficient the federal government is, maybe we should reconsider that line of thinking. After all, who would have imagined our bloated federal government could do so much with only &85 billion? ;)

I was wondering that myself. To listen to Obama you’d think the entire Federal government, to say nothing of state and local governments, run on that $85 billion alone.
