Detroit A Warning For Our Nation

Detroit is a classic left-wing city. A once great American city, it has become an absolute nightmare thanks to liberal policies. It’s lost more than half of its population in the last 60 years. Large portions of the city are abandoned. So much is abandoned that neighborhoods have become a dumping ground for the dead. Half of the streetlights in the city don’t work. A large portion of the lights date to the 1920′s. Beautiful buildings in downtown Detroit are completely abandoned and have been for decades. The people of the city just don’t seem to care anymore.
What happened to Detroit? It would be very easy to blame the racist administration of former Mayor Coleman Young. But white flight from the city began before he became mayor. His administration though can be thanked for whites not coming back to the city like they did in places like Cleveland in the 90′s. In fact, Coleman Young can be blamed for implementing any number of failed liberal policies. Make no mistake Coleman Young laid the groundwork for the racist extremists who occupy Detroit’s city council today. But Young wasn’t alone in his racism and liberal extremism.
Under Coleman Young Detroit decided it was going to be a liberal black city, to the exclusion of all other races. By kicking out everyone with money, they kicked out all of their tax revenue. By making excuses for crime, they turned Detroit into a crime ridden dump. When they wanted whites to return under Dennis Archer in the 90′s, few were willing to come back because of the previous couple decades and a city council that remained racist. The problem though wasn’t Young or the city council. They’re the focal point, the headline makers. The real problem though is the people who keep electing these racist liberals.
The issue in Detroit isn’t that it’s overwhelmingly majority black. The problem is that the church in Detroit has failed. Most of the men have nothing to do with church in Detroit, which is its own problem. The church itself is dominated by racist churches such as Obama’s church in Chicago pastored by Jeremiah Wright. Beyond that, Detroit has a church that will not discuss sin in any meaningful way. The combination is toxic. The result is that Detroit is crime ridden, people don’t care about each other and the government quite openly hates white people.
As such we can see what socialism does to a city just by looking at Detroit. People have lost the will to do things on their own. They expect government to do everything for them. They don’t care about their fellow man, they expect government to do that for them. When government doesn’t do a good job, its white people’s fault or the state government’s fault. It’s always someone else, it’s never the leftist policies or race politics that have dominated Detroit for half a century. Look at the pictures on Forgotten Detroit, read about the city government failures and read about the frozen man whose legs stuck out of the ice for weeks and no one cared.
There is hope for Detroit but it does not lie in the racist socialism that has dominated the city for years. It starts with the church returning to Biblical Christianity. It begins with a repudiation of the racism that has dominated Detroit both under black and white governments. It requires self reliance rather than reliance on government. If the people of Detroit stop relying on government, it won’t matter as much that the city fails at providing even basic government services. Detroit is a stark warning about the future if we adopt socialism, drive business out and embrace liberal racism. We must pray that the nation looks at Detroit and chooses a different path.

Your analysis of Detroit’s economic decline has astutely determined that it was the direct result of racists black liberals and their socialist policies.
The decline of Detroit and so many other American cities has nothing to do with the decline of manufacturing, the building of a super-highway system to the suburbs, federal programs that encouraged middle class families to purchase homes in suburbia and the building of countless malls that stripped the inner cities of their merchants. Nor, the call of the suburbs with its fresh healthy air, unlike the heavily polluted air in the cities pre-EPA, had nothing to do with the decline of cities like Detroit, Newark, New Haven, Richmond, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Rochester, Springfield etc.? It has happened because its citizenry has not been sufficiently Christian according to you.
Well Steve, perhaps your analysis is not very accurate. Perhaps you are not so free of racial prejudice as you would like to believe. In fact Steve, I believe you are a racist. Steve agrees. “Whipped up race riots” Is that what you think black folks across this country are eager to do? That black folks are inherently more violent prone then whites to riot if their political choices are not achieved? Blacks are less civil and accepting of democratic results? Ever heard of the Louisiana riots of 1868 when more that 1,000 blacks were murdered by good white Christians because they wanted to vote? Ever hear of the Atlanta Race Riot of 1906 when nearly 40 blacks were killed by whites in a riot over jobs and other civil rights. In fact, Steve, it has been pretty much the nice white Christian folks who have rioted and murdered blacks after a black politician won against a white. So really, all you worried whites out there you have nothing to fear if Obama loses the election. I would, however, worry about the far-right political commentators on the internet who are trying to foster hatred between the races. Especially the ones who have deluded themselves into believing that their opinions have nothing to do with racism and their own prejudices-when in fact they certainly do.
Detroit’s problems predate the racist regime of Coleman Young. Detroit was a progressive city long before blacks had any political power. It was progressive policies that have led to Detroit’s decline. That it accelerated under Coleman Young takes nothing away from the fact that the progressive movement doomed Detroit a generation before.
The decline of Detroit goes well beyond the decline of the auto industry and manufacturing generally. There are plenty of other cities that declined as the need for unskilled labor decreased. Detroit’s decline goes well beyond that. It is a complete and total social decline of the worst order. It is partially based on race as racist whites created problems in the 30′s with unions, which were almost exclusively white and racist, and it was carried on by racist blacks who got revenge (in their minds) on whites in the 70′s and 80′s. To pretend that Detroit’s decline is centered on manufacturing fails to understand what really went on from 1930-1990 and the end results of decades of bad policies that we see today.
John, have you not seen all the flash mobs stealing from businesses? They are black people. This is happening all over the country. Have you not seen the black people in the Trayvon Martin case indiscriminately beating white people? Did you not see the black panthers putting a bounty on Zimmerman’s head? President Obama is trying his best to divide this country by race. A nation divided cannot stand. Forced discrimination does not work. The prisons are racial separated because NONE of the races can get along. Sunday is the most segregated day of the week. Left on their own devices, people would rather gather with those of the same race.Blacks are just as racist as any other race. I live next door to a black church and they hate me because of my skin color. Remember Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech, ” When people are no longer judged by the color of their skin,but by the content of their character. This is true, Sunday is unfortunately the most segregated day of the week. Interestingly the most segregated cities in the nation are up north. Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Boston etc. The south gets looked down upon by snobbish northern liberals but they’ve done a good job moving beyond a racist past. The north refuses to come to terms with what happened in the past and is uninterested in moving on, be it black or white. Northern white liberals are more than happy to sit back and boo hoo blacks so long as they stay below 8 Mile (or pick your city boundary) and black liberals are more than happy to perpetuate bogus white guilt and black racism and victimization in order to keep hold of their power. We will never get past this sin and nonsense unless both sides get over themselves. Sadly it isn’t politically expedient for the left, so it won’t happen.

There is nothing to emulate there concerning race relations. We are all subject to prejudices whether we want to admit it or not. The difference between the average white Northern and average white Southern is that the Northerner attempts to get past his racism. The Southern accepts his racism and is proud of it. There are many, many exceptions of course.

Why don’t you do some real studying and find out the history of who is responsible for most of the rioting and racial killing in this country before repeating some racist vomit you have found on the web. Did you read what I wrote at all? I specifically said that white racism was a problem in Detroit prior to Coleman Young. The unions (a progressive creation) were overtly racist and there is little doubt that the largely white police department unfairly treated blacks and were at least partially responsible for escalating the 1967 riot. I never once suggested that white racism doesn’t exist and specifically mentioned Sunday’s being segregated and northern progressive cities being segregated. Don’t associate me with white supremacists, I have zero tolerance for such people.

1wanderingtruth? Why give them a forum here? You think you live in a world where racism doesn’t cause real harm? It has only been through the work of progressives and liberals that this country has made any progress in eliminating racial barriers. It has always been the good Christian conservatives fighting to preserve God’s great plan for the white man who have opposed progress at every step of the way-from the ending of slavery to the Equal Rights Amendment to voting rights. I don’t censor comments. I allow a free exchange of ideas here, even if I disagree. He made a good point that the most segregated day of the week is Sunday. I find that horrendous. Having said that, there have been a rise in black youths targeting white people for seemingly random acts of violence. Dr. Thomas Sowell has detailed this and black race riots that the media has not reported on. Make of it what you will. To me, the problem with Detroit isn’t anything recent or anything as simple as youth violence or race riots in the past year. The problem is longstanding and entrenched which arguably makes it more difficult to deal with.

Nobody said blacks were eager to whip up race riots. I said Obama and his chicago style campaign team would do anything, including inciting riots, using any method they could in a shameless attempt to win the election, including going so far as using their own braindead followers in a negative way. it’s a reflection on the SHAMELESS administration, not myself or Steve.

Obama is going to get the over whelming majority of the black and liberal vote. So who on earth would be influenced by a race riot to vote for Obama rather than Romney? As for a race riot, there are two schools of thought here. There is the school of thought that suggests that if Obama’s surrogates started a riot and then Obama cracked down hard it would help him because he would look strong. There’s another school that suggests that it would hurt him no matter what. Since there have been several race riots and black on white mass crimes in recent months (per the Sowell article) the media seems to be on board with the second school of thought.
My take is that there won’t be a mass race riot anytime soon. There was a time when I believed that if Obama lost there would be wide scale black race riots. At this point I don’t think that’s going to happen. Blacks will vote 95% for Obama but he’s going to have trouble getting all of them to the polls. As a group, blacks seem to have cooled towards Obama. His homosexual marriage flip flop may have been the nail in the coffin of outright love and worship for him. So I don’t think there will be race riots after the election, at least not in relation to Obama.
No one who is highly intelligent would predict race riots to help Obama get elected. But of course, a friend’s cockeyed thinking would never get corrected here. You need all the friends you can get. I do not know what school of thought you are talking about but it must be from another planet or someone in the Federalist society.
The progressive left is known for stirring the pot in order to create a crisis which allows them to obtain or consolidate power. Arab Spring is a good example as it was completely organized by the Muslim Brotherhood who just happened to obtain power through it. Is it really so absurd to suggest that race riots or really any riots could help Obama win re-election? It would allow him to exert authority and force an end to the riots. He would come off a hero for ending them. Let’s move beyond riots, it would benefit Obama to stop a terrorist attack right before the election, he would look a hero. Any President would. I don’t think Obama is going to organize such nonsense but he doesn’t have to.
Steve, first, I wouldn’t describe the Muslim Brotherhood as leftist. They are in fact more akin to your world view-religious fundamentalists. Your theory about riots is just as stupid and noxious as the allegations against Roosevelt, (i.e. that he planned and allowed thousands of US armed forces personnel to perish in the Pearl Harbor attack so as to be able to enter the US in WWII.) You have such an incredibly dreary opinion of humanity and your fellow US citizens. Why bother at all? I, on the other hand, happen to like this country. I happen to still believe that there are a lot of honest and honorable politicians of all political stripes working for us. Political games are one thing but your alleging that supporters of Obama are so evil and so desperate that they will act no better than street thugs thus causing the loss of life and the destruction of property is just lunacy. If the Muslim Brotherhood is right-wing like myself why did Soros funded groups such as Code Pink support Arab Spring and the Muslim Brotherhood? I would submit to you the Brotherhood is a leftist outfit, albeit a leftist Muslim outfit. They believe in socialism, an Islamic socialism. Soros would drop the Islamic part of that but it’s socialism nonetheless.
There have been people have supported violence in the last few years in Obama’s favor. The black panthers for example threatened violence and intimidated voters in 2008. I’m not saying there’s a big group out there but it doesn’t take a big group to start a riot. Like I said, I don’t think it happens. It seems to me a little late for Obama to come to the rescue by stopping riots. Saul Alinsky supported race riots in the 60′s, why would anyone believe that leftists wouldn’t try to use them to their advantage today?

I do not know of a single socialist who wants a theocratic government. Theocracy and socialism aren’t mutually exclusive. In fact there are multiple forms of socialism out there. Sometimes socialists put there differences aside, such as the Arab Spring which was supported by Code Pink and other Soros groups. Other times they go to war such as when the National Socialists attacked the Communists in WWII. The idea that the only sort of socialism out there exists in Europe today or in the White House shows a fundamental lack of knowledge about socialism.
