Chick-fil-A Exposes Liberal Intolerance and Anti-Religious Bigotry

I watched yesterday in amazement at the reports from around the country of lines hours long at Chick-fil-A restaurants. Mike Huckabee is the apparent organizer of Chick-fil-A appreciation day. The appreciation day has its roots in comments the restaurant’s CEO, Dan Cathy, made in opposition to homosexual marriage. Chick-fil-A has tended to support Christian causes in the past and is closed on the Christian Sabbath. Cathy’s comments created a firestorm from liberal Democrat mayor’s, with Boston’s threatening to ban Chick-fil-A and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel declaring the restaurant doesn’t share “Chicago” values. We will refrain from pontificating on what exactly Chicago values are.
Thus we have Chick-fil-A appreciation day, a conservative attempt to show up intolerant liberals. Make no mistake, this is all about the intolerance of liberals. The left is forever telling us they’re the tolerant ones and that conservatives are full of hate. Yet it is the left that refuses to tolerate any dissent from its beliefs. They’ll threaten your company with expulsion from a city or from allowing new restaurants to be opened for no other reason than one executive voiced an opinion liberals don’t like. Dissent will not be tolerated by the left.
Of course they’ll try to claim that opposing homosexual marriage is discrimination, they’ll cheer the bullies in Boston and Chicago. But the fact is the left has lost the homosexual marriage issue every single time it has been put up to a vote by the people. Chick-fil-A is in the majority on this issue, not the left. The truth though is that in opposing the Biblical view of marriage, it is liberals who discriminate against Christians and others of religious faith. It is the left that is intolerant of religion, particularly the Christian religion. They want to frame the debate about discrimination concerning 1% of the population, in reality the it is the left that seeks to silence men and women of religious faith.
The left is full of sacred cows and homosexuals are one of them. Any opposition to these people will be meet with exactly what we saw happen to Chick-fil-A. Oppose homosexuals and the left will attack you personally and threaten your livelihood. Look at Mark Regnerus who published an extensive study on the adult children of homosexuals. The left didn’t like what his conclusions so rather than engage in debate they sought to silence him and destroy his credibility. Around 200 scholars wrote a letter wondering how Regnerus’ paper was even published. After all, how could a scholarly publication publish something liberals disagree with!
Regnerus is a professor at the University of Texas and you may write off what happens at universities but the fact is the college campus is the best place to see the intolerance of liberals in action. After all, it’s the only place in the country where these people are completely dominate. What happened to Regnerus is common place on university campuses. The left has all sorts of speech codes they subject students to. Christian organizations are expected to “tolerate” homosexuals and allow them into group membership and even leadership even if their actions are in opposition to the Christian group’s beliefs. This is called tolerance in college, in reality it is anti-religious bigotry.
The self declared tolerant liberal is in fact the most intolerant sort of person. Disagree with a liberal sacred cow and they become incredibly intolerant. Voice a dissenting opinion, they’re intolerant. Voice a religious opinion and they become very intolerant. This is so engrained in liberal thinking that they don’t see any problem with a Mayor threatening a restaurant that doesn’t fall into line. To say nothing of college professors and students voicing opinions that liberals don’t care for. Chick-fil-A exposed the intolerance of the left to a far wider audience than the conservative college students who have to deal with such intolerance on a daily basis. Judging by the number of people jammed into Chick-fil-A restaurants yesterday, it seems the public doesn’t think much of liberal intolerance and anti-religious bigotry.

I can tell you one thing, the supporters of Chik-fil-A vastly outnumbered the detractors in Fort Smith yesterday. It seems you are right, a very large number of people did not like how the liberals attacked Dan Cathy and his business. Every comment I heard in our shop yesterday was that they should leave him alone to voice his opinion. Of course, that isn’t good enough for the left. They are not content to let someone have their say, or to even disagree with them, however silently they may do so. They are intent on having the entire country fall lockstep in with their perverted viewpoints.
We don’t have a Chick-fil-A in Grand Rapids so I couldn’t join in the fun. The left will not tolerate any disagreement. They claim to be tolerant but they’re the most intolerable of liberal heresy. If they aren’t threatening to shut down or prevent restaurants from opening, they’re threatening liberal heretics on college campuses.
Compare the Chick-fil-A situation to the Dixie Chicks, who attacked President Bush a few years ago. No elected official or anyone of importance on the right wanted the Dixie Chicks silenced. Conservatives simply stopped buying their albums. The left on the other hand wants to use the power of government to either prevent Chick-fil-A from even opening their restaurants or to force the restaurant to assent to a liberal worldview. The left/right reactions to Chick-fil-A and the Dixie Chicks shows our fundemental baseline disagreement. The right protested at an individual level, the left protests using the power of government.
Does intolerance of intolerance make on intolerant?
Since when did the left get the exclusive right to define terms?
I’m just asking whether a general intolerance of intolerance of inter-racial marriage or women voting or homosexuality in general meets the definition of ‘intolerant’. I mean, does it matter what you are intolerant of?
Who is talking about interracial marriage or women voting? We’re talking about liberals being intolerant of faithful Christian and our basic beliefs.

Of course not. But the fact is that it is intolerance itself that is intolerable to progressives. They reserve the right to find your intolerance intolerable.

I will tolerate it as long as you acknowledge that the ‘Christian principle’ you are sticking to and liberals are not tolerating is itself ‘intolerance’. In this case, intolerance of gays.

I think this whole attack on Chick fil A was orchestrated to try to get votes for Obama. it was already well known they were a Christian Company, but somehow now this becomes an “issue” just before the election? it’s another attempt to distract from reality and pander for certain votes.
You make a good point. This was never an issue with Chick-fil-A before, so why now? It feels like a completely orchestrated non-event that backfired on the left.
