Obama Off His Teleprompter Again

Earlier today we discussed the fact that the public has tuned out Obama and thus isn’t really paying attention to anything he has to say. That’s both good and bad for Republicans. It’s good when Obama speaks in soaring oratory about hope and change. It’s bad when the President is saying ridiculous things. Now that the President is going off his teleprompter more for the campaign, we’re going to see a series of increasingly absurd statements coming from his mouth. If you think “you didn’t build that” was outrageous, you haven’t seen anything yet.
Yesterday at a fundraiser Obama said on the economic choice the nation faces ” we tried our plan — and it worked.” The $800 billion stimulus, which didn’t get unemployment under 7% apparently worked! All those shovel ready jobs that weren’t shovel ready apparently saved the economy. Obama pressed forward though, citing the auto industry. Apparently bailing out the auto industry saved the economy. We’ll have to ignore the fact that if the government sold its shares today taxpayers would lose $23 billion. We’ll have to ignore all of the dealerships the administration closed for political reasons (only the biggest GOP donors saw their dealerships shut) rather than economic reasons. We’ll have to ignore the fact that the administration not following bankruptcy law actually cost GM and Chrysler $26 billion more than it would have if the law had been followed. Oh yeah, the President’s policies have worked!
Obama declared that around the world “people have a new attitude toward America” and “more confidence.” No doubt people have a new attitude toward our nation now that the President is bowing to foreign leaders. We’re no longer leading in the world, we’re following France like we did in Libya. Even our allies are increasingly concerned about Obama picking and choosing which terrorists to target via drone attacks. Meanwhile the Fast and Furious program saw this government give thousands of weapons to violent Mexican drug cartels, resulting in the deaths of nearly 300 Mexicans. A new attitude perhaps, but not a good new attitude. More confidence? Other than killing Osama, what exactly has this administration accomplished internationally that would give any other nation reason to be confident?
When it isn’t Obama saying crazy things, it’s his campaign operatives. Stephanie Cutter, a deputy campaign manager, wonders aloud whether Mitt Romney understands how the economy works. No, she isn’t kidding around. We all understand that the Obama team doesn’t agree with Romney on how to handle the economy. It’s one thing to voice a disagreement with Romney, it’s another thing to accuse someone who spent 20+ years successfully flipping businesses of not understanding how the economy works. It’s not like Romney is a career politician like John McCain or a community organizer who has never done anything in the private sector like Obama.
The Obama campaign looks utterly foolish suggesting Romney doesn’t understand how the economy works. Luckily for them most people aren’t listening to them anymore. But that doesn’t mean they won’t hear what Obama has had to say recently. The internet has a way of making sure everyone hears what pols say, even if people generally don’t pay attention. This is going to be a delicious campaign, we can only hope and pray that Obama and company stay off the teleprompter. They’ll dig their own political grave with their absurd comments.
I haven’t been able to pay attention to Obama in over 2 years now. Obama has so mastered the art of lying and misrepresenting himself, I automatically know he is lying if his lips are moving.
I can’t wait until Romney can start spending some of his saved cash. If Obama keeps this up, Romney should have no problem taking advantage of his mistakes.
The one thing you can say for Romney is that he hasn’t lost ground in the polls despite Obama outspending him two and three to one in major swing states. One would have to think when he can spend his money he will be able to gain on Obama and perhaps go ahead of him. Time will tell.

“If Romney knew a fraction of what, say, libertarian Congressman Paul knows about economics, Romney would respond concisely and clearly on how venture capital firms like Bain risk money when banks are afraid to and have developed ways for smaller companies to acquire capital, grow, and create jobs.”"
