Harvard Declares Republicans Are More Patriotic

Harvard complains that 4th of July parades turn children into Republicans. Their study confirms what we already know, Republicans are more patriotic than Democrats. One reason I believe is that Republicans tend to love the Constitution and the founding fathers while Democrats have stuck with President Wilson’s position that the Constitution and founding fathers are largely irrelevant. Unless they suit Democrats at any particular moment, then they’re wonderful!

Perhaps one reason why 4th of July parades and other patriotic events turn children into Republicans is because Republicans can simply relax and enjoy the day. Democrats and liberals on the other hand cannot for a moment relax without making some grand point about something. Brian Palmer of Slate.com wrote an op-ed in the NY Times complaining about 4th of July cookouts. We’re not allowed to enjoy them because they’re bad for the environment. Beef is bad, potato salad is evil and pie is a big no-no. He literally spends three paragraphs discussing which method of grilling is more environmentally friendly before not reaching a conclusion. His suggested 4th of July meal: fried potatoes and grilled peaches. No wonder kids don’t want to be Democrats, they’re not allowed to enjoy a grill-out.

Why do liberals hate American traditions? Why do they constantly look down upon Americans who love their country? It’s hard to put a finger on, though I suspect it has to do with the far left’s ties to Moscow and radical marxism over the course of the 20th century. When the far left, who largely control America’s colleges, teach students about radical change they clearly want a change from what we’re doing now. In other words, change includes eliminating love of country and apparently Independence Day grilling. Not all Democrats buy this sort of radical thinking, especially at the rank and file level. But enough of them do, especially in leadership, that it hangs like a cloud over the entire party. Enough Democrats aren’t excited about the 4th of July to the point that children see that and gravitate towards the people who are excited: Republicans.

So on this 4th of July I encourage you to take your kids to a parade and celebrate the birth of our nation. Thank God for the founding fathers, who loved Him and sought to protect the rights which He endowed. Fire up your grill, if only to annoy your liberal neighbors. Perhaps plan on grilling hamburgers, since that seems to really rile leftists from Michelle Obama to Al Gore. But most important don’t forget to remember our Christian heritage and don’t forget to pray for God’s blessing on our nation.
